Gentle Dog Slashed to be used as Bait Posted: 2 weeks ago by horsefeathers
Two men were foiled in their attempt to start a dogfight by allegedly stealing or finding two "clean" pit bulls that had no injuries or wounds. They also had a female pit bull that they slashed with a box cutter so that the wounds and blood would arouse and incite the two other dogs.
Some humans really do suck.

How grandmas may play favorites Posted: 2 weeks ago by ThirDeye
Paternal grandmothers share an X chromosome with their granddaughters but not with their grandsons. Not very surprisingly the data cited in the paper suggests that having a paternal grandmother nearby improves the survival of granddaughters compared to grandsons. Boys seem to have a greater chance of survival if they live with their maternal grandmothers.

Reunion Arena in Dallas (the old home of the Stars and Mavericks) was being torn down. They stripped everything but the roof and support columns. The plan was to weaken the columns so the roof would come down slowly - about 3 days. But after weakening just one column, the whole thing fell. (AWESOME Video in article)

Copyright Timebomb Ready To Explode Posted: 2 weeks ago by 2manyusernames
A copyright law enacted in the 70's may greatly change the music industry. Main issue is that artists from the 50's, 60's, and 70's will soon be able to reclaim the copyrights to their work. Music from that era sells as well if not better than modern music. All this could add up to a huge loss in income for the record companies.

Women need to watch their drinks -- and their drinking Posted: 2 weeks ago by midnightbliss10
The rumors were everywhere. On Facebook. On Craigslist. At the coffee shop. Young women were being drugged at downtown bars. Someone was slipping them "date rape drugs," like the sedative Rohypnol or party drug GHB. They weren't being sexually assaulted. But someone was making them sick. It seemed like the stuff of urban legend.
