Avatars or thumbnail pictures on Plime need to be square. For that reason, Plime has a built-in image cropping tool. Unfortunately, this tool doesn't work for many people for some unknown reason. Here's the workaround - satisfaction guaranteed:
Load the picture you want to use into the image editor of your choice. Crop it to an exact square: It doesn't matter whether it's 90x90 or 467x467 or 4x4 - just make sure that a=b, nkey?
Save the cropped image to your hard drive and upload it from there. Hit "submit" - done.
By the way, the Plime image library is huge by now. If you don't find a proper image among the suggestions made by Plime, try adding a few more descriptive tags (you can remove them again before submitting the link once you've found a pic).
(Zach, I edited your thread in order make the FAQ more transparent. -suckersklub)
Anyone else having problems getting a new avatar? I haven't been able to change mine since "Favorite Beer Friday". I can post the error message if needed.
«pocksucket:If you haven't already, try making the picture you want to post square and 90x90. That way rookery doesn't have to do any processing to the image.
It won't look good on your profile page, but will be the right size for comments.
Rookery stores some avatars in 320x320, too. Don't ask me why. Size really doesn't seem to matter.
Also, make sure your image is NOT in BITMAP (.bmp) form. It will NOT upload. It must be in either JPEG (.jpg) or Portable Network Graphics (.png) form. There might be others, but I know these 2 will work.
