Would anyone else be interested in knowing who is currently on plime? Just throwing it out there, I don't really care for the feature on other sites like myspace, but I think it would be cool here.
Everyone profile you visit that you click "ADD FRIEND" will be added to your friends list.
On the left side of your screen, above all the categories, should be your username with a little plus sign in front of it. Click the plus sign and it will give you two options "interests" and "friends". Click the plus sign in front of friends and your list of friends will be there. Everyone with a little plime logo in front of their username is online.
For a while this function was not working, but it seems to be up and running again now
Also, if you go to that person's profile, there's a "last online" thing. If it's under a few minutes, they're probably online. It's not the most accurate thing in the world, however.
well ... Mer's and DEP's solutions are good, but pretty much only works if you already know the person to see them online. i'm also curious for a feature fav's thinking of, as well has to see how many people is browsing an area of plime at a time.

Wow now I feel sad. All this time I had zero friends.
Plime is a pliable tree of interesting links, cultivated and pruned by everyone. Be sure to read the FAQs, they can be found below among the links to the other categories.

Is there any other use for "friends" on here besides seeing who is on plime?
I think it would be better if you could see everyone, not just friends. There are some of you that I like to read about but don't consider friends. I guess I take words too literally though. The word friend has just been b*****dized by randoma$$ people all over the internet asking me for friend requests.
I have always been an excellent speller, however, I can never remember how to spell friend (had a buddy who said this was because I didn't have any). I usually have to type it out both ways and see which one looks right. It never does.

At school I was taught:
"If you have a friend you fry their end."
This makes no sense, is inaccurate in many senses, not least of which being how even the most solid of friendships would be rocked to it's very core by end frying. Except maybe for Armin Meiwes & Bernd Jurgen Brandes.
However, if you're unsure about the spelling of friend you might find it helpful.
