School Refuses To Allow Female To Referee Boys Basketball Game
School Refuses To Allow Female To Referee Boys Basketball Game
They claim that their God has told them that a woman, could not be put in a position of authority over boys. <groan> another Islamic bashing post you ask? No, this was in Kansas and a self-described "catholic" school. picked by 2manyusernames 5 months ago

Same thing in most ISDs in TX: females can not be put in a position of authority over boys, therefore they can not teach boys PE. Males can teach girls PE. Females cant even sub on boys' PE. (they can sub in wrestling, etc... anything that is not called PE and in theory girls could participate, even if that never actually happened)

Where did you get that?
I work in a Texas School District. That's not even close to true.

So I'm guessing this particular school is staffed completely by men? Don't Catholic schools usually employ nuns? Wouldn't those nuns be in positions of authority over the male students?
Feh. I did notice that the school is founded on principles put forth by some super-conservative dude who was excommunicated in the 80's, so at least this isn't "mainstream" Catholicism sticking its finger in the eye of equality. But still... weirdos.

God said that they all need to give me $100 each, for a punishment through money because of their sins. Oh, and he also said you all need to pitch in to get me a big screen TV!!

This is so frustrating to me as a Christian... Such a large amount of people SAY they are Christians, and get on the news and make the good ones seem dumb. Now along comes some narrow minded guy and all of a sudden he thinks this is where God stands.

I know they wont post miracles that happen in small churches, and how comforting God was during someones time of stress, but still, its frustrating.

I am surprised nobody has seen the irony in this. This is St Mary's Academy. The institution is named for St Mary, a woman. Coincidence? I think not.

If I remember correctly, the verses that say "I do not permit a woman to have authority over a man" is prefaced by "not the Lord, but I."
Paul, the one who written it, made it clear it was his rule and not God's.

So, there's a good chance God's looking down and saying "OMGWTFBBQ!?!1!"

I can send you the employee booklet from my school district, and from some others. It clearly states my point. As I said the only thing that is against the rules is PE. My wife was coaching wrestling for boys for a while, but she can not be assigned for PE for a class that has boys only.

I dont see the point of the links. I never said there are no female PE teachers. The article never said anything like that either.

I agree, you have a point: they would not stop a female teacher to be a referee, so it is not exactly the same as it is in the article.
