If they make it, I'm sure I'll wind up keeping one. Really like Remi (the grey girl), though they're all sweethearts. Not getting my hopes up until they're a lot older, but they're certainly entertaining now! Think I already have more than enough homes for them if they do pull through (6 people wanting one of three kittens...)

They are gorgeous. I agree with you, those kittens are no more than 3 weeks, and the guess of between 2 and 3 weeks seems spot on. The ears will perk up at 4 and really they walk better. Glad to hear they are in very good shape, and I'm so glad you found them and they all have good homes to go to.

You might try some of the KMR in a dish and let the others at it while bottle feeding any given one. Most likely you'll just have kittens soaked in KMR though, but every now and then one catches on :)

Thanks, I'll try that. They like swimming in the bowl more than eating out of it. I think maybe they're a little big for their age, which is why he gave me the age he did. The big boy is 14.4 oz which should put him between 4-5 weeks, girls are 11.2 oz which puts them 3-4. Guess they're just fat!

Oh, adorable little kitties!

I'm glad to hear you have prospective homes for the little ones. Good luck with being a surrogate MamaCat!

Adorable! My girlfriend very recently got a kitten in a similar way. Right now it is about 8 weeks. I've got some great photos of it from about 2 weeks ago. I've been planning to post them. I'm gonna get to that as soon as I get a chance (hopefully tonight).

OK, so one of them finally pooped, but it seems loose. Don't really know what it's supposed to look like though. You think that's normal after such a long period of not going? Would it be considered dangerous diarrhea if it's still only happening with my help? Hard to do a skin fold test as they are little fluff balls and I can't tell where their skin even is. You think she needs to go back to the vet before Friday?

The other one's still haven't gone. My vet said to bring them back by the end of the week if they haven't by then. So we'll see, I think maybe I'm being paranoid... :)

They are all still eating well, and very active, trying really hard to climb out of their box, and purring up a storm. I'm trying to weigh them, but they won't sit still long enough!

Thanks everyone for the advice, it really helps to have another ear on these things, especially when you're as easily freaked out as I am!

Anyone know what sort of litter is safe for the little ones?

Their poop will be loose as far as I know because they are only eating formula. Better loose than really hard.

When I worked at the breeding farm, it wasn't abnormal for the foals to get the scours.

« gammerus:When it comes to abandoned kittens just say no. If you invite one in they will tell the others on the outside and soon you'll find another little bundle on your back porch covered in mats, and dirt, and looking at you pathetically with its lil blue/hazel eyes and demanding you feed it.

Despite their obvious cuteness they are pure evil.

Also, I demand pictures.
haha this is so true...i got my kitten from outside in the snow...she was just on my porch...but after i took her in...like 3-4 other cats/kittens came outta nowhere...i gave in and took another kitten in during the spring...gave her away tho...

but yea i heard the eyedropper thing is good...w/ my kitten i just started her on the wet food out of the can...and just made sure i sliced it up really small. and yea gettin her checked for mites and fleas is good...

oh okay, i just read the update and saw the pic...i second everyone else in saying...Awwwwww.

So, this may not sound pretty, but I've heard you're supposed to rub their... butthole with a warm wet washcloth to help them with the going

You are probably right. I know that if they are separated from Momma too soon they don't know what to do in that department.

A word of... um... not quite warning, but just a note. Kittens weaned early like these ones will have some strange personality quirks (more so than other cats), and will probably keep sucking on things for life. My last cat was abandoned by her mother at about 2 - 3 weeks old, so I took her in. I had a big stuffed animal that the cat "nursed" on for well over the next decade. She would leave big dirt marks wherever she sucked on that thing, and would get so upset with me when I washed it.

I have one like that already. She sucks on her little "puff balls" (those little catnip cotton balls) every night. Funny thing is, she was 4 weeks when they tried to give her to me, and I made them wait another two and keep her with mom until I'd take her. She's a great kitty though. Even if she is currently stealing the kitten's bottles and trying to nurse from them (at a year old). :)

Yep, so fun. That's what I meant about only happening with my "help". I think maybe I'm not supposed to have to do that too terribly much longer...

Hey, you guys know when I can stop stimulating to make them potty? I think they're about 4 weeks now, getting their canines in.

Are they all pooping now?? I don't know the answer to your question, dolly probably does. But I would think you could stop stimulating them once you notice that they are going on their own free will??
