Paleontologists from the University of Rennes (France) and the ESRF have found the presence of 356 animal inclusions in completely opaque amber from mid-Cretaceous sites of Charentes (France). The team used the X-rays of the European light source to image two kilogrammes of the fossil tree resin with a technique that allows rapid survey of large amounts of opaque amber.

A mixed breed and a Labrador, formerly owned by Diane Sue Whalen of Tulsa County, have been accepted by the Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, said Barbara Williamson, spokeswoman for the animal sanctuary.
The dogs — named Lucky and Buddy — will be taken to the no-kill sanctuary next month.
Whalen, 54, and Donald Roy Seigfried, 55, were charged with felony crimes against nature after Whalen's adult son found more than 150 tapes of his mother performing sex acts with her dogs and a blue heeler owned by Seigfried. Seigfried was accused of filming the acts.
I'm at a loss for words. This is a sick world we live in.

Many animals make great artists. No, I am not talking about Galoot and Meowza, yes they've been called animals, but I am talking about dolphins, elephants, and the like.
" Animals have been painting in some form since at least the early part of the 20th century. More often than not these were publicity stunts, little more than circus-type acts exploiting the animals. In the early 1960s, a keeper at the San Diego Zoo in California, noting an elephant's natural behavior of drawing in the sand with its trunk, included painting among one of her charges' behavioral enrichment program. This amounted to the elephant pushing a large housepainting brush across a canvas much like a big sweep broom."
