My mind is pretty much set on this anyway - cruel or not I'd no more buy a tattooed fish than I would a tattooed kitten, but I'd be interested to see what the impact would be in the fish.Likewise. I'm not one for designer ANYTHING when it comes to animals. Both my cat and my dog are rescues, and while I think they're gorgeous and unique, I doubt a lot of people would shell out much cash to have pets that resemble them. I'm just not going to work myself into a tizzy over it until I know whether or not it has a negative impact on the fish. Perhaps that does mean I have a disgusting attitude. I don't particularly give a s**t.

Those who argue about what an atrocity this is fail to realize that humans have had a hand in altering animals' natures and appearances for centuries. Your beloved cat or dog is NOT a product of nature, it is a product of selective breeding to acheive a desired outcome, often at the expense of the breed's health and genetics. Most of the people freaking out on the website sound like idiots to me. It reminds me of the funny animal videos on YouTube where five comments in, people start going "OMG THAT POOR ABUSED CAT U MADE IT CHASE AFTER A LAZER FOR YOUR OWN ENTERTAINMENT CANT U SEE IT SUFFERING POOR KITTY :(((("

1 They have no proof that fish either feel or dont feel pain, they lack parts of the brain that allow pain production the way we do, though who really knows, as fish dont talk.

2. They are just tattooing the scales. For awhile they were injecting fish with ink, to make their fins or bodies neon. I had two of them (Bert and Ernie) and they lived longer then most of my other fish, and in fact were just as healthy and energetic as the rest of the fish.

I dont see any harm in this at all.But...WHY?! why not just adopt colorful natural fish?
