I'm not one for designer ANYTHING when it comes to animals. Both my cat and my dog are rescues, and while I think they're gorgeous and unique, I doubt a lot of people would shell out much cash to have pets that resemble them. I'm just not going to work myself into a tizzy over it until I know whether or not it has a negative impact on the fish. Perhaps that does mean I have a disgusting attitude. I don't particularly give a s**t.

Those who argue about what an atrocity this is fail to realize that humans have had a hand in altering animals' natures and appearances for centuries. Your beloved cat or dog is NOT a product of nature, it is a product of selective breeding to acheive a desired outcome, often at the expense of the breed's health and genetics. And yes, that doesn't exactly justify the practice of dyeing fish, but at the same time, I get the sad feeling that a lot of the people on that particular site who are decrying this new brand of designer pet also have little toy dogs with weak bone structure and poor respiration, all in the name of producing a visually appealing pet.
<score></score><crdate>2/18/2008 11:23:14 PM</crdate><rssdate></rssdate><atomdate>2008-02-18T23:23:14+01:00</atomdate></comment><comment>

Pocksucket @ 2/18/2008 4:51:37 PM

« gammerus : This is true, But when it comes to something as iffy as fish I try to find someone who has no stake in it whatsoever.. when I stop being lazy I will look up some stuff on it later.
Let me know if you do find any more info.

My mind is pretty much set on this anyway - cruel or not I'd no more buy a tattooed fish than I would a tattooed kitten, but I'd be interested to see what the impact would be in the fish.
<score></score><crdate>2/18/2008 4:51:37 PM</crdate><rssdate></rssdate><atomdate>2008-02-18T16:51:37+01:00</atomdate></comment><comment>

gammerus @ 2/18/2008 4:48:19 PM

« Pocksucket : I would generally trust retailers who are saying not to buy something like this - they could make money, but are trying to block the trade.
