Long, strange trip to Ecstasy Posted: 3 months ago by DerAlt
Albert Hofmann, the Swiss chemist who invented LSD, died Tuesday at the age of 102. Although psychedelic drug enthusiasts are busy writing online tributes to Hofmann (who died from a heart attack, not from attempting to chew off his elbow in an acid-induced freak-out), there's also a sense that few people under the age of 30 have heard much about LSD,

Ah, those 20 hour psychedelic vacations! I'll never forget having to babysit a friend who inadvertently drank from the wrong canteen.
Luckily his trip was a good one, but he got too playful when I was driving another friend home and had him in the backseat. He decided that playing peek-a-boo with the driver while on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway would be fun. Mercifully, the traffic gods were with me and nothing happened.

What possibly could happen at 5 MPH? :)

I'm 32...and I know I am part of the minority, but I don't regret even a single (seemingly year long) second of any experience. I had a borderline "bad" experience once when I wasn't all in for the "normal" activity of driving around all blahooey. My friends left me at their house, their mom came into their room and IMMEDIATELY knew what was up, and was pissed at the fact that they left me there and that they were out space driving. I was fine, I just played Starfox all night but I felt bad for my friends getting busted. I think the 20 hour thing is more like an "I wish" or a bad nightmare. I've never had an encounter longer than 10 hours. Part of my theory about drugs and stupid people was concieved while highly modified. It basically goes something like this, if you are comfortable with your mind, you are of average intelligence, and you have faith in a deity, you should probably never even CONSIDER taking psychedelics. If however you've never felt comfortable in your own mind, your conscience seems like a vice in which your thoughts and feelings are trapped, and you have doubts about the nature of a higher power (and are not afraid to look at something which you are not supposed see) LSD might be just the thing to make you realize your whole self, to find compassion for mankind, and to become aware of the frailty of exsistence. LSD is an experience that little is gained from one trip, or in a casual setting. It is a portal to a part of the mind that is locked away deep inside of us to protect us from ourselves. Stepping through this portal can be dangerous, it can be frightening, but it can be wonderful and enlightening as well. Ecstacy in comparison is a triviality, a good time with little consequence or benefit to the mind or the soul. If LSD and X were gummy candy LSD would be a sour patch kid, and X a swedish fish.

the article was kinda biased tho. Yeah it definitely was, do they really think all lsd and ecstasy users are all gonna tell the truth on the survey? From my experience, I certainly don't think so.
