"For sale: baby shoes, never worn."
By Ernest Hemingway. He called it his best work.

"Machine. Unexpectedly, I’d invented a time"
By Alan Moore

Other famous writers have been asked to try to put together a story in 6 words. They're all really fabulous. picked by genkan 9 months ago

We were taught about flash fiction in English class. That was probably the best lesson in the entire year. There were many points to look out for in a good short story. Characters, setting, obstacle, suggested resolution, and others. I can't remember all the details; this was in February. Anyway, Ernest Hemingway's does everything perfectly.

My class tried using these 6 word things for our class t-shirt. The one I suggested was "You're my future fan, don't cry." It was obviously changed from one of the listed ones. The one we settled on, in the end, was Steven Meretzky's "Wasted day. Wasted life. Dessert, please." I didn't really like it.
