I've seen this before. I kind of like the befores better, they look more realistic.

I haven't checked everything but this is the closest I've ever seen to actual professional retouching as might be requested by a client.

Some of the previous displays of retouching are certainly PhotoShop impressive but not likely in the real world.

This is very, very realistic.

All of these changes were routinly done in a conventional manner years before PS was invented.
Displayed in this manner they do look like magic.
Nice.

I agree. There something to be said about not being perfect, not being concentric, and being real.

seems like the most common thing among the females is shrinking ribcages and, weirdly enough, plumping up arms and occasionally legs.

it's a sad state of affairs when technology traditionally used to slim celebrities down is now used to fatten them up.

They edited the same Beyonce photo as me.

I love seeing the before pics. Looks like some of them just woke up and rolled over to the studio for some pics. They must have a lot of faith in the retouchers.

It makes me sad that people can't be seen as they are.

Absolutely.

But that won't fly on magazine covers and celebrity publications.

What is so wrong with freckles? I don't understand why they are all edited out.

I am also surprised at how many ribcages and hipbones had to be edited from sticking out. Apparently, skeletons aren't even considered slim enough now.

ETA: I find the untouched pictures of the men way sexier than the retouched ones. Men are supposed to be rugged, not plastic!

I think it's near criminal the way magazines and media portray celebrities as these flawless gods. If I were Penelope Cruz, I'd be seriously pissed if that image were used in a magazine. I'm assuming, of course, that the publisher ordered the retouching and not the actress.
We're slowly being led to a completely fictionalized world.

Nothing there that impressive. This type of retouching has been going on way before Photoshop existed, I spent many hours doing it by hand myself.

Makes you wonder why they pay the photographers so much. I most of these the editor changes lighting and so much more. Why not just have a tripod set up with the camera on auto shoot while someone tells the celeb how to pose. Instead of a photographer you'd hire a photograph-coordinator and maybe get away with paying them less :P
