Ten Thousand Cents Posted: 6 months ago by 2manyusernames
Ten Thousand Cents" is a digital artwork that creates a representation of a $100 bill. Thousands of individuals working in isolation from one another painted a tiny part of the bill without knowledge of the overall task. Workers were paid one cent each via Amazon's Mechanical Turk distributed labor tool. Site also has a video with all 10,000 parts being drawn simultaneously.

New Bill Could Make You a "Terrorist" Posted: 10 months ago by tvirus
"The end of Free Speech in America has arrived at our doorstep. It's a new law called the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act, and it is worded in a clever way that could allow the U.S. government to arrest and incarcerate any individual who speaks out against the Bush Administration, the war on Iraq, the Department of Homeland Security or any government agency (including the FDA). The law has already passed the House on a traitorous vote of 405 to 6, and it is now being considered in the Senate where a vote is imminent."

This blog summarizes the bill and links to the full text.

Here's a collection of rare early Bill "Calvin and Hobbes" Watterson's toons from The Kenyon Collegian, his college paper from Kenyon, Ohio. They're a little edgier than the Calvin and Hobbes strips (but not as funny)

Frustrated customer tries to teach maths to Verizon Customer Service Agents Posted: 2 years ago by BrightonCub
Can you tell the difference between 1 cent and one dollar? What about 1/2 cent and 1/2 dollar? And 0.002 cents and 0.002 dollars? Yeah, this agent, then the supervisor, and finally the manager, all seem to have a problem with that last part. Stick with it, this is worth your time.
