Jake and Dinos Chapman spent £115,000 on purchasing original watercolours painted by Adolf Hitler back when he considered himself an artist and then painted rainbows, lovehearts and smilies onto them.

Having heard an interview with the pair of them earlier today, I suspect that unthinkingly courting controversy may be a part of this but in one regard, at least the defaced paintings will no longer be a lure to neo-Nazis and other Third Reich fetishists (such as the collectors the Chapman brothers bought them from in the first place).

this actually makes me mad, I know Hitler was an horrible man but this is part of history and they are just defacing it.

I see your point and while it has merit it seems it might actually incite some of the neo-Nazis and cause them to retaliate and deface other historic articles.

In any case I just can't see that it's worth vandalizing historic items for whatever reason.
