Possibly even more shocking than the article are the comments. I actually mean they're good - well a bunch of them at least. They're well thought out and fairly intellectual! This must be an internet first (second, actually, after Plime)!

Yes but put the same article on Fark and I think the comments may be entirely different.

"Dude, I'd so volunteer my mom for this, LAWL

SOMEBODY'S's gotta photoshop this dude."

Or something along those lines.

i love how the artist wants to display a person dying naturally...because dying slowly in an exhibit in a museum is natural.

I don't consider this "art". Just like the artist that used a stray dog in an exhibit that was starved to death. Definitely not the masterpiece that I want to move my emotions.

In definite agreement with most of the comments too. I just don't see who would 'go' - and to be perfectly morbid- the process of passing away can be rather quick. If there is a 'beautiful' or 'thought provoking' message to displaying mortality, can't there possibly be a way to capture that moment or essence without putting it on display?

The Pope being set out after his passing had a strange voyueristic creepy feeling too - perhaps it's *just me*

i have an illness which means I'll pretty much know when my time is up. (If I'm not drugged to my eyeballs) I shouldn't be in pain, and I actually would think about doing something like this. I would see it as a way of staying out of hospital, and also maybe showing people they don't need to be afraid of death...
I'm not saying I definitely would do it. But I would seriously think about it.

Not to get to existential, but wouldn’t anyone qualify? We're all dying, some are just a lot closer to the end then others.
