Astronomers puzzled by cosmic black hole Posted: 1 year ago by 2manyusernames
Astronomers have found an enormous hole in the Universe, nearly a billion light-years across, empty of both normal matter such as stars, galaxies, and gas, and the mysterious, unseen "dark matter." While earlier studies have shown holes, or voids, in the large-scale structure of the Universe, this new discovery dwarfs them all.

Kudos! Seconded.
And for the record:
"The survey also produced a catalog of more than 1.8 million individual objects identifiable in the images."
These are those missing socks.

Very interesting... after finding so many mysterious objects in space, they are now also finding extremely large areas with ... nothing inside, except, well.. space.
One correction, though: That empty area may look black, but it is not a "black hole" in the sense that astronomers use the term. If it was a large "black hole", then we would by definition not be able to see what (if anything) was inside it.
