If they ran their business differently, they could probably generate more revenues for a while, but eventually they would just blend in with all the other thousands of online electronic stores and fall off the face of the earth or get put out of business by a larger retailer with better prices.
While they aren't maximizing their short term profits, they have created a unique site that has a huge, almost cult-like following. And I've always felt Woot.com has an ingenious way to sell stuff. Only sell one item at a time, sell only the item till it sells out, and occasionally sell crap left over in a bag of crap, at a discounted rate.
