She's a kid after all and giving her back may cause a psychological trauma.

Sounded like there was a lack of discipline in the home. But I don't blame her for giving the kid back. Clearly she wasn't able to handle it. Who's to say whether being raised by a family that doesn't like you is more damaging than being removed from the home?

That being said, tells you a lot about a woman who is only willing to love the nice kids she adopts and expects everything to fall into place within the first year.

Somehow I have the feeling this lady confused the idea of taking a PUPPY back to the pound...and giving a child back.

Way to go. She even explicitly told the kid that she was not going to be rejected, and then she goes and does just that. After struggling, and finally making an effort to make it work, this b***h says that something inside her had given up. She claims she's taking full responsibility as an adult. Well, she's clearly not. She should have thought of that beforehand. If you adopt a child, you can't expect to have "some sort of emotional closeness, but not like I have with my daughter". God. The poor little girl didn't have anyone else. This angers me, REALLY angers me, it hits close to home and strikes me as a sick, sick thing to do. Truth be told I don't care what the b***h's problems are/were, adopting a child is taking on responsibilities and you don't just f**king get to discard them like they were never there just because you didn't push them out of your c**t. Poor kid. Poor birth daughter as well, I'm beginning to think.

What makes this even sadder is that when the little girl finally gave up on her birth mother and attempted to build a relationship with her adoptive mother, the woman totally rejected her. I can't imagine being that harsh to a child who obviously needs you so badly.

Another thing... if the girl was put in the foster system because her birth family couldn't be reached, why was she able to write them a letter and get a reply? And why didn't the social system make an attempt to return her to her birth family after they were found rather than put her back in the system after this awful woman "returned" her?

Also, the title is VERY misleading and biased.

More accurate would be "The daughter I was planning to adopt hated me so I didn't go through with it."

And I really don't think this should be under "Crime".

They always make them live together first so that they can make sure it's going to work. If it obviously isn't going to work, it's probably best if it doesn't go through.

Adopting someone at that age, when so much of their emotions and attitudes have already been formed is completely different from raising a child from birth. That's WHY they have a one-year evaluation period. Sometimes things just don't work out.

Why on earth did she think things would go so well? I wouldn't expect the child to open up within the first year, not to mention several months.

Poor girl.

If I could upvote this a thousand times, I would.

This is what got me:

"She had no other option but me. At that point she actually started making more effort, but it was too late by then."

What a c*nt. You can actually hear the smug in her voice...all "she should've tried harder when she had the chance".
