The real question is, which is worse - a woman using her kids as meat shields, or a woman being shot and killed because she made an "aggressive move" with a knife at a f**king traffic stop? If they weren't pointing guns at her she'd hardly have been hiding behind her kids in the first place. Now they don't have a mum at all, even if she was a mental case.

1) Shoot the lady who was lunging with a knife possibly attempting to stab someone.

2) Sit back and allow her to stab someone, possibly killing an officer. An officer who may very well have had kids of their own.

The police apparently acted in self-defense. 100% righteous. Even if someone says it was only an aggressive move. She wasn't really trying to stab someone. You don't know that. Nor does anyone have time. Would you be willing to take a chance if some lady was coming after you with a knife?

I agree. Still sucks for the kids though. It's likely that their entire lives will revolve around this. I can't imagine them having respect for the police after this incident, regardless of whether it is justifyable or not.

Also, if one is armed with a knife and doesn't care about their children getting shot (as they are protecting you), I am sure the police worried the children could get stabbed as well.

Thats what I was thinking too! Take her out before she hurts/kills the kids. Unfortunately "take her out" meant more than incapacitate in this case :(

According to the article they tried the taser first. It sounds like they did everything they could to prevent it and they probably took extraordinary precautions with the kids there.

Using someone else as a shield is really low, but using your own kids? Unthinkably despicable.
