No unfair dismissal laws in Canada?

Very stupid employer, this waitress stood to make him and herself more money because if customer's asked saying she did it for a cancer charity may well have inspired more people to come to the restaurant and spend money/leave bigger tips. Dumb employer.

That's what you get for being charitable and considerate of others! WTF was she thinking?!?! Cancer? Like that's important... we all know they already have the cure locked up deep in the bowels of the Pentagon!

It would be very unlikely for the customers to ask why she was almost bald. Most people would consider it to be quite rude to ask.


If the restaurant was the type that the waitresses' appearance was the main draw for going there, than it would be perfectly reasonable to fire her. If her looks was a part of her job, than a radical change to those looks would justify her being fired.

However this is not that type of restaurant and her appearance is not part of her job so there was no valid reason to let her go.

If her appearance bothered them, I wonder why they didn't suggest she wear a wig while at work?

Most people would probably assume she was a lesbian. I can't imagine that would result in people not going to the restaurant. So the restaurant can't make the claim that her haircut would hurt their business.

Yeah, this restaurant screwed up big time and seems that they will be paying a price in lost revenue even if she decides not to sue

I love that someone is quoted in the article as saying the will respond "with their wallet." Let this owner know that he's an a$$hat.
