Teaching the Scripture is a fundamental task of the church. If they don't like their priest teaching it then they should not go there. It would be like going to a concert and complaining that the band played music.

I'm sorry mr p, but I must disagree. It would be like going to see a pink floyd cover band, and they decide to play the doors.
"Teaching the scriptures" means teaching abstinence, I think we can agree on that. It does not mean advising parents to how to (or not to) vaccinate their children.
The HPV vaccine protects against some forms of cervical cancer. Most teens are worried about getting pregnant. They could care less about cancer. Most don't even worry about STD's. I seriously doubt a cancer vaccine it going to cause a spike in teen promiscuity.

HPV is spread through genital contact. Not even sex necessarily. And males are carriers too, so why is it that the females are the ones getting the vaccine? where is the male vaccine? If we are really supposed to be giving this vaccine to protect against HPV then why is only 50% of the population being targeted?
I can't believe that I actually agree with a member of the clergy who said that parents should be talking to their doctors.

Gardasil is only approved by the fda for use in females 9-26. Why? Because was the first clinical trial demographic. A new set of ct's are being conducted on women over 26, and males.
BTW, Gardasil only protects against 4 of the 40+ types of HPV. It just so happen those 4 types are responsible for 70% of the cases of cervical cancers.

Much of our day to day lives should be left alone, left for us to decide ourselves what is right and wrong. The church should strive to develop desciples, not drones.
