This is linked to that article, an interesting history of Walmart signage.

It definitely sucks. It is also very generic looking. The previous one has an iconic status and instantly recognizable.

Changing it makes no sense at all. I can't even imagine how much money the change will cost them, but I'd bet it will be easily over a million.

Whatever...I will still shop there because it is darn cheap. I will still hate it because I always spend way too much money there. Wal-Mart, walmart, or as I like to call it...WALLY!

Absolutely! "Waiting for this store to not suck, please stand by..."

I wonder how smug the designer was who thought of this gem?

No no no, I'm sorry, but after seeing London 2012's logo last year, this looks like the climax of aesthetic beauty.

It's not all that bad, it's pretty boring, but then again most of their designs have been. It's simple and they probably wanted it to be as unobtrusive as possible. And I think plime's taste in design is a little higher and harder to please than Wal-Mart's target audience.

I don't buy things because of a logo or an internet slam. I buy at the best prices I can find. If you need socks and underwear...Walmart.(and maybe a 'whore' low paid worker)

How honest of them to put a stylized butthole right there in their logo so you know exactly what to expect.

Good point. We're not a fair bunch of judges. We have too much bias. What can I say? We like quality.

True this package is rather generic looking and lacks appeal overall. BUT, it is a smart move on the beasts’ part because while this wouldn’t necessarily make a good sign, it is textbook consumer products packaging lettering at its finest, straight and to the point. A marketing rule of thumb is that you cannot compete purely on low price; you will eventually be looked at as the cheaper less attractive store. But I predict that Wal-Mart is going to start carrying there own brand of products based on this new logo.

They already have their own brands. Sam's is walmart brand (food items). Then there is Parents choice and Equate.

It actually looks very web 2.0. I have to agree that they could have done better, but i definitely think this is a step in the right direction and a vast improvement over what they have currently. Maybe it's just me though. Oh well.

Perhaps its meant to reflect the genericness of walmart. It kind of looks like the imperial logo from starwars
