I saw this on the news last night. I can't decide what is more disturbing, a group of teenagers planning to beat up one of their own, or the fact that they not only planned it, but video tape to play it on the internet??? Quick! Call the exterminators!

I saw video of this on the news this morning and I was just waiting to see it on plime. It makes me sick - they seriously injured that girl and for what? 15 minutes on the internet? Sick.

Wouldn't it have been easier to have an emotional breakdown (a la "Leave Britany Alone!")? Equal fame, less beatings.

Let me start out by saying this: what they did is wrong, they deserve to be held accountable and if I were the mom of this girl, you bet your sweet bippy that I would have some cans of whoop ass to open of my own.

I think that it is being sensationalized my the media and these girls are getting even MORE fame then they originally hoped for.
I can't understand why the girl didn't at least try to fight back but perhaps it was in fear that she would be jumped by all of them at the same time.

Also, the clip is only 3 minutes and what was shown may have not been the worst of it.

Either way, I hope these "girls" get it given back to them 10-fold. They have no idea what is in store for them in jail/juvie.

i can't understand your reasoning ... i know you didn't host the video, but i don't understand why you think it's okay for you to spread the link around, even it's just once here. posting it once here exposes the video to at least five people, who wouldn't have seen it at all if it wasn't posted. i think it's deplorable that any website would continue to host videos like that (they'll never take it down for me, as i'm sure i wouldn't be the first to ask them to). but i just don't understand why you think it's right or okay to seeing that plimates see that video. would there be any reason for you to not share that video link?

As I said I feel that people who will want to see the video will be able to find it, I don't feel guilty about making their lives easier. You can argue that I'm promoting the video, which might be wrong but I don't feel that I was doing that.

As for the video its self; while it is disturbing to think that people would do that to someone else, I didn't find the video of the act very disturbing. Maybe I'm more desensitized than some.

Hiding information is never a good thing. Only posting things people will like and not posting things that one cannot stomach leads to media tailoring. You are only lying to yourself if you refuse to acknowledge things that actually go on in the world. The world is what it is and if everyone would hide the bad things, and gloss over everything, no one would realize how awful things are and nothing to prevent it would be done. Because no one would know about it.

I think the video scares people and that is a good thing. It means that the world isn't accepting of things like this.

I was stalked and terrorized for over a year for supposedly telling a boy that one of the girls was sweet on him.

Yes, High School can be a very Darwinian existence, and sometimes you're going to be on the receiving end of the mob.
This happens without the video cameras every day, but watching it doesn't make you guilty by association.
Think about their future- These kids are going to be hometown pariahs, and I think that quite a few ass-kickings are going to be coming their way, probably on a daily basis, or at least the threat of one.
It'll be years before they can go anywhere without looking over their shoulder.
