She has no right to do that.

The daughter reminds me of those random annoying sidekicks that you used to see on cartoons all the time.

"squeek squeek, annoying sound, and blah."

edit: I should have been more specific. Since I would be oh so pissed if it happened to me I'm going to side with the student as well. The bus driver had no right to touch the student.

Escalates? She calls her mom! lmao (the same mom that should've provided her with some ritalin that morning)
I don't think I've ever seen a more irritating person by the way, may god have mercy on her future husband.

Im going to side with the student on this one. The driver was the first to get physical. Regardless of what the argument was over, that woman had no right or reason to hit that student.

If it was me, I would have just used the emergency exit at the back of the bus.

I hope that lady gets fired, and gets sued. Then gets struck by lightning. And then run over....with a tank....that's on fire.

Ok, I know I'm not getting all of the story, here. I could swear the driver's first question was, "Why are you on this bus?" Ok, so the girl says she'll get off the bus and THEN you don't let her??
Oh, and the pushing and holding the girl back? Chalk up one fired bus driver.
*bonus poke in the eye*

ETA: According to MyFoxPhoenix.com, this is how it all worked out:
" Gilbert Police will file charges against the four people involved in the brawl on a Gilbert school bus. After completing their investigation, Gilbert police have charged the driver, Kim Sullivan, with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. They have also filed charges against a 15 year-old student for aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. A 14 year-old student and a 16 year-old student have been charged with disorderly conduct."

Huh??? The bus driver is CLEARLY the instigator in this situation! She started a verbal argument with the girl with her b***hy, "Why are you even on this bus? Don't you have any other way to get to school?" comment, and THEN escalates the fight to physical violence by pushing, and then restraining the girl. THEN she repeatedly refuses to defuse the argument by simply talking to the girl's mother on the phone. AND she slams the girl's cell phone down at least twice and refuses to return the phone. She then re-escalates the situation by wrestling with the girl when she attempts to get her cell back.
After that, all hell breaks loose. If that driver is not banned from ever working for the city again, justice has not been served.

The girl may have been on the wrong bus, AND she may have been yelling, AND she may have been wanting to get off at the wrong stop, but that does not excuse the *adult* in this situation from her atrocious behavior.

Ok, long diatribe complete. Go on about your business.

I ride on the wrong shuttle bus occasionally to talk with my friends and everything.

Every bus ends up at the same place for the first half of the ride then everyone goes to thier respective buses to get home.

I don't see what's wrong with going on a different bus as long as you get on the right one when you have to.

Whenever I got reprimanded for it I apologized and did it again the next day. =)

I'm glad they haven't resorted to anything like that though.

I live near Gilbert and I have to say you will never find more out of control kids anywhere else than the westside of Phoenix.

From the looks of it, it seemed like the bus driver hit the student first.

No person of authority or adult ever has the right to touch a student or child.

What was the deal with the whole "get off the bus! stay on the bus!" WTF, make up your mind!

and I would like to state for the record, the kid stayed calm a lot longer than I would have.

So, she wasnt on the right bus?

That is what started this all?

I would just like a bit of clarification.

And its not assault if you are defending yourself.

I don't know. I hate these kids that rely on the fact that they are untouchable to get away with anything they want. Meanwhile we expect adults to maintain order. The kids know the adults are powerless unless they use force, at which point the adult is sued. There is no winning.

By the way, if someone walks into you, 1 inch away, you don't have to wait for them to hit you to push them back. Proximity is considered threatening. At least that's the way the Texas penal code works.

I once punched a guy that got in my face and the DA said his proximity indicated his intent, so he was actually the aggressor.

Ditto, that bus driver would have been knocked out halfway through the video.

the driver is a dumbass. she could have avoided the whole mess by simply letting the kid get off the bus when she said she wanted to get off, instead she verbally berated the girl and then blocked her exit from the bus and ultimately assaulted the kid. i hope the driver is fired and her daughter expelled for getting involved in it.

See the traffic? ..and from the comments it obviously wasn't her stop and she wasn't even supposed to be on the bus in the first place. That girl gets off the bus..and something happens to her...the driver gets sued.

Bottom line...bus driver's don't get paid enough to deal with snotty little b*tches like that. The driver called for backup..that's her responsibility..she did it.

IMO...The teen wasn't supposed to be on that bus...it's HER fault. We can't expect bus drivers who make SQUAT to handle situations like a police officer...who by the way would have just arrested the b*tch.

But the sad truth is..the bus driver will get fired for it.

yes i saw the car go by, i also see what looks like a sidewalk on the left side of the screen and a kid way in the back stood up immediately at the beginning and looked like he was planning to get off there. is there a rule in arizona that you can't get off at someone else's stop? if she wasn't supposed to be on the bus then when exactly is she supposed to get off? none of the stops are going to be 'the right one' and staying on longer might take her miles in the wrong direction. the driver yelled at her for being on the wrong bus and then wouldn't let her get off the bus. was she to be arrested for being on the wrong bus? was the driver going to give her a ride home after her route? i'll grant you the girl was snotty BUT that driver was definitely in the wrong and had no right to detain the girl.

Problem is they're not allowed to let the kids off the bus if it's not a designated stop. My friend's daughter's bus driver seemed to be able to run into anything. Hit a parked car, mailbox, and road sign in three isolated incidents over a week. Finally managed to get the bus stuck in a ditch. Friend's 12 year old called her, she went to where the bus was stuck and was not allowed to remove her own child from the bus. I think the bus driver was finally fired after hitting another car, but several parents were royally pissed because they weren't allowed to get their own kids off the bus when it was stuck in a ditch, they were told they had to wait for the replacement bus. I'm pretty sure it was something like 95 degrees that day as well...
