Cheerleader In Videotaped Beating Shows Face, Gives First Interview
Until now, the face of Victoria Lindsay, 16, has been blurred out in a video that has circulated around the world showing her receiving blows to the face and body during an attack committed by six of her classmates.

They should just have an open door policy for prison. If you think you might want to commit a crime, just check yourself in. That way you don't have to shoot someone, we won't need a trial, and it saves lots of time. Okay, that's just silly, but you get my point (I hope)

What I don't get is why she didn't fight back. Gouge the eyes, pull the hair, and strangle them. Self defense includes making your attacker unable to continue attacking. Yeah, guard your head, but kick them in the stomach, push them away, and jump on them when you have the chance. Don't just stand there and yell at them.

But then again, I don't fight because I would probably kill whoever I was fighting. If you're going to fight, why fight nice? You have all that adrenaline; use it.

*I'm talking about like when you get jumped, not when you're fighting for sport, because you should have reservations for sport fighting.

Maybe she didn't have it in her. Some people lean more toward the flight response than fight.

Regardless, the fact that she is not fighting back is going to look that much more damning to the ones that are getting prosecuted.

Fighting back against six people?

You don't think she would have just been pissing into the wind?

Good point

Well, one of them was holding a camera and two were doing lookout.

I don't know that y tu brute stuff so the point you're trying to make with that is lost on me. She's a cheerleader, she should be able to kick high, she could have tried kicking them in the neck real hard.

I'm not saying she was stupid or anything, just that she could have tried something other than yell at them from the corner. I'm glad they're getting tried as adults, I feel for their family, and I wish they came out of it in stitches.

True true. When a gang of girls were pushing me around, I was "advised" to hit the biggest one and the rest would leave me alone.

I did.

She smirked, stepped back, and I got pummled by the rest of them.

Fighting back may have given them a "reason" to do more damage, because then they could (insanely rationalize) self defense

My bf was jumped by 6 guys, one guy punched him and broke his arm on his face. My bf ended up grabbing one in a head lock and wouldn't let go. They all scattered after that.
But yeah, some people just have it in them. I'm not sure what I would do if it happened to me.

"Et tu, Brute? Then fall, Caesar."
It means literally "And you, Brutus?"
Ceaser, being attacked by the Senators looks up to see his best friend Brutus is attacking as well. Its kinda like the Judas kiss.

And yeah, fighting back would have been good, but she is 16, and probably has never thought of what to do when her friends attack her.

I would agree that fighting back probably would have resulted in a much more severe beating, perhaps worse.

In the end she got beat up by a few girls, hardly the first time someone got beat-up.

Truly a horrific terrible event, however unlike others such as Kendar's bf and bunnysutra, this girl and her family are probably going to make quite a bit of money. Lord knows how much they've already gotten for selling their story to People/inside edition and ???. From there who knows what's next, a book, a movie? All of that is hardly beyond the realm of possibility.

A black eye, a broken tooth and a few other bruises and gashes isn't a bad payment for who knows how much money. A few hundred thousand dollars minimum would be likely probably even more.

[and of course that doesn't include the mega-bucks they will deservedly get from the families of the girls who beat her and the boys who stood lookout.]

If there is lasting damage such as vision/hearing loss that would be another story, but we don't that to be the case yet.

I am not downplaying her ordeal in the latest. Just pointing out that what she went through was not some sort of rare unusual event except that normally it is guys doing the beating and the victim is harmed much more severely and without the huge payout.

It really bothers you that the victim might make some money off this, doesn't it? Yet no mention of the bully that got bailed by people at the Dr. Phil show.

Did the victim or her family release the video to the media? Her dad is pissed it's been all over the internet. If you want to blame anyone, blame the media. They are the ones that are turning this into a national event. Not this girl.

Sure, they are probably getting hundreds of calls from media outlets begging for a story and promising huge money. Have you ever had the media decend upon you? Do you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that you would not sell your story, knowing that it's going to be told, with or without your help? Why shouldn't they cash out on this? I can tell you though, that this young lady did not walk into that house thinking that she was not only going to make national news, but also make alot money off this. I don't think the parents, when first seeing their beat up daughter, thought Oh, what a cashcow!

The difference is they videotaped the whole incident, to get it on the internet. It makes the story 100 times more interesting because it provides great footage.

Should the victim and her family make money off this? Why the hell not. The media certainly is.

Finally, if you want to stop these "payouts" by the media, stop watching the media. Stop clicking on websites that provide these stories. As long as we continue to watch and beg for more, the news media will deliver. And they don't mind paying a small percent for the huge return they will receive.

This reminds me of a huge argument I got in with my mom when Diana died, she was blaming the paparazzi but to me it was her fault for watching it so religiously and buying the magazines that support these a*****es.

I didn't say it bothered me, just pointing out that they are going to be set for life.

I did say how offensive it was when "Dr" Phil got busted purchasing the story from one of the assailants. I also made the obvious comment that the blaming of a staff member was chicken-s**t and obviously false.

I didn't say I wouldn't turn the money down either. In fact I can guarantee you that I wouldn't. It is quite possible that they will make more than a million dollars. I don't think any intelligent person would turn that down.

I am only saying that getting hundreds of thousands of dollars, probably a million dollars plus removes some of the sympathy for this girl who got beat up as so many do. The difference is as you pointed out, the video tapping of it and the internet celebrity angle.

The ONLY thing that I would fault the family for is if they tried to sue Google/YouTube.

Alright, I apologize. I know how you about lawsuits, though. :)

And strangely, this is this first I've seen of this story. I missed the other article/s that have been submitted.

I'll leave ya alone.

I love how they go on to blame the "viral" aspect of it. Here's a thought, If that REALLY bothered you, you wouldn't be on the milking train, overexposing this thing even more so. Blatant hypocrisy.

I think instead of blocking HER face, they should have blocked the faces of her attackers. Their names should be with held. Nobody needs to know who these idiots are! Let them go to jail and rot. They have ruined their lives. Why should they get any attention? I am glad they are being tried as adults. But let's not give them anymore attention. Let the general prison population do that for us. Assuming they are found guilty. Which I think they are.
