Score 1 for the little people

I do understand that illegally downloading music is copyright infringement, but I think this is a great case because while the recording industry has so much money and can afford to stage these legal battles, the people they are fighting don't have the same kinds of funds and I hope this little dip in their wallet gives them a heads up about being more certain before attacking.

here is the article where she was suing. Glad to see she won even if it was a relatively trivial amount. Now the question will be will she ever see the money?

Her lawyers might see a good chunk of the money... after the appeal.

Hopefully she was either smart enough to have them work on a contingency basis so they only get a percentage of the settlement or the lawyers are doing it pro-bono.

The RIAA says they "respectfully disagree" with the ruling and that it is only a recommendation. In the first sentence of the story it says that the woman was awarded the money. It just seems like the RIAA has a different view of legal proceedings when it isn't in their favor.
