People who do this obvious don't care about anyone but themselves. There should be a "dirtbag law" that automatically ads 5 years to any sentence for people who do unthinkable things like this!

A local radio station is really stepping up and trying to make up for this.
is the website of the station, and they are asking for donations of money (mainly because handling that amount of items is really hard in the short amount of time they have.)
The DJ lady actually described these people as "souless freaks of nature" on the air, so I would donate money just for that.
EDIT: I may have misheard this, but on the radio they said that everything was stolen from the Salvation Army. Ah well, either way, someone got screwed, and someone needs to fix it.

This story always seems to come up every year, and every year it breaks my heart. Theft is theft is theft, but theft from a freaking charity? Unimaginable.

Well, not so unimaginable.
This is tragic, I think. I don't necessarily think the culprits, if captured, should not necessarily have an extended sentence, BUT their cruel and heartless actions, at least, if we can assume so, will come back to haunt them one day, I think.
