My son has Asperger's. If his teacher had done this, getting fired would be the LEAST of her worries.

the article said that this isn't grounds for child abuse ... well, it's still teacher authority abuse.

little kids take things so seriously. this isn't funny at all, whether or not the teacher wanted to seriously kick the kid out of the classroom.

what have the other kids learned from this?

Reading the article, the other kids did not get better from it at all either.

I feel so sorry for the little kid, a teacher should know so much better. She should not be a teacher at all.
I think she should be fired, and put on a list so she can never get another teaching job ever.

I completely agree with one of the poster Packman from the article...

"My guess is this teacher watches way too many reality shows...."

Teachers aren't better than the rest of us. We want them to be, we expect them to be, but they're not. They screw up, they give in to mob mentality, and yes, they play favorites as well. This is an example of a teacher being stupid and instead of teaching kids to get along, teaching them it's okay to be rude.

I'm sorry that I am in agreement. I work at a university that is dealing with the teacher shortage via a "fast forward" program. It scares me -- some of the students we have that are going to be in the classrooms. Very little common sense or even professional decorum. My only hope is they are turned away in the hiring process.

You do actually have to take psych classes to teach... guessing this gal was sick that week.

And the article

But the state attorney's office concluded the matter did not meet the criteria for emotional child abuse, so no criminal charges will be filed...
Alright then. Treat her like anyone else and watch for her going down a lonely alley some dark night. If that kid had been my family, I might very well be in trouble myself.

No kid, however unruly, deserves this.

My husband has Aspergers. When he was in school he was ostracized from a classroom. He is still upset by it, and still has feelings of being a loser...and he is NOT a loser.

I can't believe that they say this is not abuse. It most certainly is!
