I'm with dav and tundra here. It's colour, with a u. Even if the book isn't in american english - guess what? It wasn't published in american english. It's colour.
And no, I haven't seen it. I've heard bad things, though, so I'll just stick to the book.
Fred: Things have come to a pretty pass, Our romance is growing flat, For you like this and the other While I go for this and that. Goodness knows what the end will be; Oh, I don't know where I'm at... It looks as if we two will never be one, Something must be done.
(refrain) You say eether and I say eyether, You say neether and I say nyther; Eether, eyether, neether, nyther, Let's call the whole thing off! You like potato and I like potahto, You like tomato and I like tomahto; Potato, potahto, tomato, tomahto! Let's call the whole thing off! But oh! If we call the whole thing off, Then we must part. And oh! If we ever part, Then that might break my heart! So, if you like pajamas and I like pajahmas, I'll wear pajamas and give up pajahmas. For we know we need each other, So we better call the calling off off. Let's call the whole thing off!
Ginger: You say laughter and I say lawfter, You say after and I say awfter; Laughter, lawfter, after, awfter, Let's call the whole thing off! You like pavana and I like pavahnah You eat bananas and I eat banahnahs, pavana, pavahnah, bananas, banahnahs Let's call the whole thing off! But oh! If we call the whole thing off, Then we must part. And oh! If we ever part, Then that might break my heart! So, if you like oysters and I like ersters I'll take oysters and give up ersters. For we know we need each other, So we better call the calling off off! Let's call the whole thing off!
I am big Pratchett fan, I would be very hesitant to watch a movie made from any of his books. Maybe the Monstrous Regiment, but even there are tons of in-jokes.
There is a lot of thinking going on in the books, lots of little piece of info here and there and than there comes a funny line, and you have to have those 10 half lines from the last 50 pages or you won't get the joke. Pratchett's books are not for dumb people.
Movies are made for dumb audience. They don't expect the audience to actually understand a movie, except to live in the second, be consumed by the visual effects. Hey movies even expect people not to care about plot, not to remember contradicting previous scenes. This attitude of script writers and directors will not agree with Pratchett's writings.
