What bets have you settled with someone by looking it up online or calling someone who could check?

I just won a bet with my son that the version of Stayin Alive on the movie Airplane was a faster tempo than the original. Thanks You Tube.

If you are really good you can just go and edit Wiki articles to what ever you see fit.

Snopes has come in handy more than a few times. It's interesting how urban legends are perpetuated. If I were a sociologist, I'd definitely do research on the transmission of stories and what information degrades and what information is embellished.

One specific story was an urban legend about a midget who'd hide in children's rooms and when the child would tell the babysitter (who was a friend of my friend's cousin) that there was a gnome hiding in the closet, the babysitter wouldn't believe him/her until she walks in the room on a whim and discovers a short man standing ridgedly in the corner of the room.

The person telling this story was deflated when I found it. He was also pissed at me, because he was using the story to scare a girl he liked.

That sounds more like a great prank ;P

Well it wasn't a bet, it was more like a heated argument.

So it was me and a bunch of other people and we were hanging out and we started arguing over what a chode was. half the room thought it was one thing and the other half of the room thought it was something else. We went to Urban dictionary and looked it up and saw the second definition and we all cracked up for about ten minutes.

That's funny, because I bet my brother the same thing. When I showed him the video of DEP and my mom, he wanted to punch me instead of giving me the $10.
