Two phrases come to mind...

1.) Wolf in sheep's clothing

2.) A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

So if I had a toy poodle and wanted people to leave it alone, could I do the opposite?

Your dog goes to daycare?

---

I almost wish they made those for Pitbulls, but people that looks scary to me either seem to think I'm tough (or that the dog is tough, and therefore leave me alone), or they think he's cool and they're friendly to me.

No, I was trying to be funny. I I don't have a dog. Although I have friends that bring their dogs to a daycare sometimes.

They are mentioned though, in the graph thing below the pictures of friendly doggies with exed-out faces.

Although I have to say, I've met more agressive/bitey poodles (and other breeds of yippy ankle-biters) than I have dobermans or rotties.

Maybe it's because owners don't rush to discipline a little dog when it nips because its bite isn't nearly as hard? I don't know. (I don't believe in bad dogs, just bad owners - usually)

Maybe I'll dress up Norm here as a poodle for Hallowe'en......

The real problem is that a "tough" guy wants a tough dog. No matter how much a mini-poodle growls at you it is still too fluffy to be scary, however if a pit looks at you wrong you duck and cover.

Poodle disguise or not, that dog looks like it's about to bite.

Actually, I think it's because he is disguised as a poodle.

But that goes back to bad owners - 'tough' guys generally don't train their dogs and may be rather mean to them - so they get mean dogs as a result, regardless of whether it's a doberman or a little Jack Russel terrier.

All I was stating before was that while I've only had a few aggressive encounters with large dogs (all but one in northern communities where they are sometimes left to roam hungrily around all summer...), I've had countless aggressive encounters with poodles, malteses(sp?) and Yorkshire terriers in particular. [Although, bite-mark scars on my feet are all I have to show for it]

The only mean dog I have ever met was my grandfathers minpin, that is a spycho dog. The dog adores him of course, but everone else can go to hell.
