Actually, they don't and that's the problem.
Bloodsucking is so yesterday. It's so 1994. It's so Anne Rice. Today's vampire is a good listener. He cares about our love lives and our problems, which is strange because we're supposed to be his food.

Which is why I loved the movie 30 Days of Night. They actually made vampires scary again. Good job.
I do like the newer version of vampires. It is sexy in a strange kind of way; however, I am more of a scary, suck your blood, kill you kind of vampire kind of gal.

Don't rag on trueblood. the vast majority of vampire characters in those novels are still cold inhuman predators.
