Vinegar - Not Just for Salad! Posted: 8 months ago by bunnysutra
We use it in our laundry instead of fabric softener.
We put it in bbq sauce for extra tang.
It cured my sisters eczema.
Grammy used to use it as hair conditioner.
Mixed with peroxide it kills the cooties on your lettuce.

So, I thought I would share this fantastic stuff with all my bff plimates! :)

PS. I'm not kidding!

I thought my fiancee was crazy, but my deep purple towels don't bleed, are vibrant and fluffy soft, and way more absorbent than with fabric softner.

If I can impart nothing else...let it be that.

Don't doubt Bunnysutra, Plimates, they really do work. ;)

I use organic apple cider vinegar (organic because it still has the "mother" in it, and I find that works better) cut with water on one of my dogs when his skin issues act up. I just keep a spray bottle of it around and spray him down when needed. It's not a DRASTIC improvement, but it definitely helps his itching.
I also gargle with it when I have a sore throat.

If it is added to the wash cycle there is no scent of vinegar at all.

I have used vinegar to wash a box of clothes that were left in a basement that became really moldy and mucky after being subject to a water leak no one had known about.

Just add 1 1/2 - 2 cups vinegar along with detergent to your wash cycle. Clothes that you thought were ruined because of mold will come out of the wash with no visible traces or scent of mold afterwards.

I use vinegar when I wash my cloth diapers to help neutralize the Ph.

FYI - If using in the wash, ONLY use white distilled vinegar. Dark vinegars will stain

I was really surprised that the only thing you could smell after the rinse was the detergent! I was dubious to say the least!

hehe. with the savings on liquid or sheets, we could buy lots of beers! ;)

I put 1/4 cup in my laundry, every load. Our t-shirts are VERY soft, and we have no itchies from unrinsed detergent!

We have VERY hard water up here, and vinegar has rescued all of our glass items, and the shower heads, and sink sprayer, and gets the crud off the faucets...

Plus, I use a cup or so to rinse my hair every once in a while, gets all the yuck off!

My ex had a white dress shirt with rust spots on it (I don't know how...) For that one I used lemon juice and salt rubbed right on, and a few hours in BRIGHT sunlight, then a good wash, and voila, no more rust! Didn't work on ink though....

To make your sink drain fresh and clean, put a big ol' bunch of baking soda in the drain, then pour on a cup or so of vinegar, and cover all the drains (the kitchen drains all connect, derrr..) This mixture will fizz nicely! After a half hour or so, run hot hot hot water through. Nice! No smells, and the drain may run a bit faster, and it's non toxic. (Lye or other drain openers may eat through older pipes!)
