Gay Scientists Isolate The Christian Gene
Gay Scientists Isolate The Christian Gene [video]
A group of homosexual scientists, working for years to determine what it is that makes people Christian, have isolated the gene which causes the ailment. They hope to use this finding to cure people of their Christianity. picked by 2manyusernames 9 months ago

« prish : Gosh, I wish we could get beyond all of this. No one is incorrect in their belief system, be it Christianity or Atheism. We all believe we are right and what we believe makes perfect sense. There is common ground, although we may not see it.
I agree completely. I understand where everyone is coming from in this argument, and all do have some valid points, but it's just out of hand now.

It's more than just the internet though, man. Some of these stories can relate directly to the users. The stories hit home, touch heart strings, even anger others.

It doesn't take much to set off a powder keg like that. If ever a story shows up that effects me like that I'm going to defend my views stubbornly, just as you, 1thirteen3, and Doggy did.

It's not a matter of diarrhea but of compassion and vehemency. =)

I don't see how the argument "its only ok to make fun of christians" is relevant to this topic. If you find the video offensive, why wouldn't you find the search for the homosexual gene equally offensive? The complaints are that you aren't "allowed" to make such comments yet the b***hing immediately begins on the rare occurrence xianity is insulted. It only serves to show that someone will be offended at something whatever it is and that all this b***hing serves no purpose. I'm offended by all this political correctness.

Some people do find the search for the homosexual gene offensive. This video is a sarcastic and witty approach to heavily fundamentalist Christians veiws on the search for that gene.

This video has, in a sense, completely flipped the tables showing people what it's like to be on the receiving side.

I myself found this video rather entertaining, and upvoted because of that.

Ok, I have a slight feeling this was directed at me considering I was using that whole argument.

First off, Christians in general think the idea of finding a gay gene is silly because they think it's a choice.

Secondly, it's about respect. You can disagree about something without being rude or insulting. Christians are not a "rarely insulted" group. Rather, nearly every topic that comes up has something to do with how someone hates Christians. It's just that when the tables are turned, the people doing the insulting get pissed off. I'm against it all.

That being said, and i've said this before, the video was funny. It was the comments afterwards that set off the argument :)

Pikachu evolve into Raichu via use of a Thunder Stone. However, it is somewhat common for trainers to choose not to evolve their Pikachu into Raichu. For example, Pikachu refuses to evolve as attempting to use a Thunder Stone on it makes it cry and refuse. Also, from the second generation of Pokemon onward, Pikachu has an evolutionary predecessor, Pichu, which evolves into Pikachu after establishing a close friendship with its trainer.

This post has confirmed two things to me.

1. NEVER let anyone find out you've downvoted on Plime as this will lead to DRAMA.

2. NEVER try and talk to christians about whether their beliefs are wrong as they will lambaste you for daring to suggest it while on the other hand spout on about tolerance. The only tolerance christianity knows is tolerance of things it agrees with.

First off, Christians in general think the idea of finding a gay gene is silly because they think it's a choice.
I had to address this. I lmao when I read this. The only reason christians find the idea of someone being born gay, as you put it, silly, is because it makes it easier to condemn them for being homosexual. It's a lot harder to condemn someone for something when you think they have a choice about it.

Because lets face it, when it's proven scientifically beyond doubt that gay people are genetically that way it's going to make a mockery of the church's stance on the subject.

**edit** Just to add, you say that you shouldn't say anything that might insult anyone yet I sent this link to one of my friends who happens to be gay and she said she finds it not only hurtful but insulting the notion that gay people "have a choice" and that the comment you made about christians find the "idea of a gay gene silly" is insulting and patronizing towards gay people.

The bible says that a man lying with a man or a woman lying with a woman is deserving of death and the church teaches that homosexuality is wrong. If you believe that I really think that is both hurtful and offensive.

You talk of hypocrisy yet christians either choose to "ignore" certain things in the bible and accept homosexuality or they gloss over their beliefs about homosexuality or they believe the bible and outrightly condemn homosexuality which I believe is insulting, hurtful and wrong.

It's things like this that make me realize the bible is null and void but if you choose to believe the bible at least come out and say it and say that you believe homosexuality is wrong instead of making little trite comments like "christians in general believe that the idea of a gay gene is silly".

This is what the bible has to say on homosexuality:

"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Lev 20:13)

And for those who say that the old Testament isn't meant for our day:

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."(1 Cor. 6:9-10)

You come on here and preach about "collectivism" and tolerance and accepting individuals yet the book you take your beliefs and teachings from is the least tolerant and the most "collectivist" body of writings second only to "Mein Kampf".

First off, it's not a "fact" that gays are born gay, only assumed. If a gay gene exists, scientists will find it, and yes it will make a mocker of the stance. Until then, however, it is NOT a fact, thus you should not be presenting it as one.

A.) I never said you shouldn't say something that might insult someone. I was condemning you for the way that you responded to Christianity and the hypocrisy of it all.
B.) I never once gave my opinion on a "gay gene" and for you to assume that I did is ridiculous. I was stating a fact, not an opinion. I thought you of all people would understand that.

The bible says that a man lying with a man or a woman lying with a woman is deserving of death and the church teaches that homosexuality is wrong. If you believe that I really think that is both hurtful and offensive.

First off, don't even start to bring in Leviticus into the discussion, because you'll lose. Leviticus is the history of the law. It's the same as saying that we believe slavery should be legal because the original Constitution allows it. No, it's the history of the law.

Most Christians don't have an understanding of how Christianity works. All sin is sin, regardless of what sin it is. Thus, homosexual actions would be just as bad as lying. Most Christians don't understand that and they get their views warped by half-truths or lies.

It's things like this that make me realize the bible is null and void but if you choose to believe the bible at least come out and say it and say that you believe homosexuality is wrong instead of making little trite comments like "christians in general believe that the idea of a gay gene is silly".
I make trite little comments like that because I don't like to be grouped in with the majority of Christians. Thus, my whole beef with collectivism (funny how consistent I am, eh?).

Yes, I believe that homosexuality is a sin. But I believe that lying and cheating and stealing are also sins. Guess what? Any sin will send you to the same place unless you've accepted the belief that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again on his own power, the reason we Celebrate Easter.

I am tired of this constant tirade on Christianity which preaches nothing about hatred and everything about love. "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ" ~Ghandi. Ghandi's quote gives one of the many reasons I hate collectivism, because I get grouped with this hateful group of people you label "Christians" and I don't like it.

I don't hate gays; I don't hate anyone. I realize that we are all sinners and that through love you can conquer more than hate. My beef with this thread the entire time is the hypocrisy you show in your hatred of Christianity. I ask you, again, why it is ok to hate Christians for being Christians but it is not ok to hate gays for being gay. I think they're both wrong, but nearly everyone has the double standard that it's ok to hate gays but not Christians or vice-versa.

How about being consistent in non-hatred? But no, we can't do that can we? We have to hate someone because they're evil. There's no possible way that we can be civil and not deride someone for their beliefs.

To restate one more time: my beef is not with the video. MY BEEF IS WITH THE BLATANT HYPOCRISY THAT YOU HAVE BLINDED YOURSELF TO.

You obviously don't understand collectivism. That verse collects these people have have acted in a way that is unpleasing to the God of the Bible.

Collectivism is where you deride someone for a belief or an intrinsic attribute. The two are entirely different.

Don't parallel the Bible with Mein Kampf. Godwin's Law

If you read I also added a verse from the New Testament that further backs up the bibles condemnation of homosexuality and to say "don't bring Leviticus into this" is ridiculous as the New Testament contains information and prophecy about the christ you believe in. By saying don't bring Leviticus into it because it's just old law, what you're saying is that God, who the bible is written by through men right?, actually changed his laws because they were out of date or wrong? That doesn't sound like the all knowing, all seeing almighty individual we're lead to believe he is

Most Christians don't have an understanding of how Christianity works. All sin is sin, regardless of what sin it is. Thus, homosexual actions would be just as bad as lying. Most Christians don't understand that and they get their views warped by half-truths or lies.
Well you've just shown to me how narrow-minded and judgmental you are, just like christians as a "collective".

I make trite little comments like that because I don't like to be grouped in with the majority of Christians. Thus, my whole beef with collectivism (funny how consistent I am, eh?).

So would I be right in saying you believe all practicing homosexuals will "go to the same place", as in hell?

I am tired of this constant tirade on Christianity which preaches nothing about hatred and everything about love. "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. You don't hate gays you just believe they are going to burn forever in eternal torture and pain if they don't "repent"? Wow, if thats your idea of love I don't wanna see how you hate.

How about being consistent in non-hatred? But no, we can't do that can we? We have to hate someone because they're evil. There's no possible way that we can be civil and not deride someone for their beliefs.

Hypocrisy is banging on about hypocrites and being one yourself. You've moaned about peoples lack of tolerance towards christianity and how it's terrible that people criticize it all the time and in the same comments you say you believe that millions of "unrepentant" homosexual people are going to hell.
