 Little Kid vs. Tuba Player
Little Kid vs. Tuba Player
Some little kid is running around and generally being annoying while this band is performing for a crowd. The tuba player in the back right doesn't put up with that kind of crap. picked by muppet 7 months ago

I love the little "YEEESSSS" squat/crouch (?) afterwards. I guess it's all you can do with a tuba wrapped around you.

Kid got less than he deserved. The parent needs a good smaking as well. "D@^n, some peoples kids."

While the parents should have been watching that kid, and the kid shouldn't have run through there; that kid could have seriously been injured.

That tuba player is a d**k. What if that kid started spitting out teeth? What if he broke his neck? Not cool, no matter what the reason, to injure a child.

He was old enough to know better. I thought it was just fine :)
Where the hell were his folks? They are the ones at fault here. He is probably that same little maniac that always seems to be whatever store I'm in.

eeeehhhh kids that age trip each other, fall down, construct ways to fall down ....

I am so not having hermetically sealed kids, and if mine got away and I wasn't able to snag him myself, ...thanks to the tuba player for giving him something to think about.

They and the guy who tripped the child.

Again, should the kid have gone through there like that? of course not. Should the parents have been paying attention? Definately. But should the tuba player tripped the kid and potentially injured him? Absolutely not.

It was an intentional trip, in no way accidental; and the reality is that if they wanted to the parents could have sued and/or pressed charges.

You can't even smack your own kid without worrying about child protection services coming down on you, what makes you think you can harm someone elses without any consequence?

And bunny, did I read that right? Are you actually suggesting that you would be grateful for the tuba player for injuring your child?

Again, throwing a what-if out there; this wasn't in a lawn this was on pavement or concrete or some hard s**t; What if the kid got seriously injured by cracking his skull on the pavement? What if he landed wrong and broke bone or yanked his shoulder out? Would you still be grateful for teaching your child a lesson?

I understand. I was in the band. No one cuts through the band without consequences. He's lucky he didn't run through the percussion section. Those sticks really hurt.

Yes, little irresponsible kids do do this and worse every day to one another. But we're talking about one little irresponsible kid (with some neglegent parents) and one kid playing a tuba that should know alot better.

There's nothing hypocritical about my stance here. I don't go around tripping kids that get in my way or annoy me; I don't go around potentially injuring kids... You might want to look up the definition for "hypocrite" because you seem to be confused.

And bunny, you're right; the kid didn't get hurt. That's why I used the phrase "What if". Hell, I thought I overused "what if" in my post, but I guess I didn't since you didn't pick up on it.

Let's stop talking about what actually happened, just for a moment, and play through this 'what-if' scenario in your head.

What if the kid DID get seriously injured?

What do you suppose the consequences would be for that tuba player and the parents? Think about it for a minute. Kid goes to the hospital, what happens to the tuba player if/when the parents sue?

Bet it wouldn't be so funny to him then.

I find it apalling that people are actually cheering this tubist on. It's like encouraging him to react physically to anything that gets in his way; as though this was a proper course of action.

Again, I'm not saying that little kid was in any way right to cut through the band like that; I'm not saying the parents should have just let their kid cut through like that; what I am saying is that the tuba player who tripped the kid is also in the wrong because he could have seriously injured the kid.

Frankly I'm a little dissappointed that none of you see the problem with what he did. I couldn't access this video from work, (break.com is blocked), so I had to youtube it; the comments over there were similar to what you guys are saying... But I don't expect much in the area of morals from youtube commentors...

What if it was your kid? What if he/she broke away, and before you could catch him he cut through the band line, got tripped up (intentionally) by one of the band members, landed on his face and cracked his head open? (I know that didn't happen to this kid, but it's a hypothetical consequence to a similar situation) Would you still be applauding this?

What if the kid did get injured? Well my grandfather had a saying that covers that one:

"Quite your snivelling, you little b*****d. You'll heal."

Kids are incredibly resilient. They mostly bounce, and the times they slide they get a great scab that at least keeps them quiet while they pick at it.

Ask yourself this? Would you have turned out to be the no-s**t-taking kind of guy you are if your parents had protected you from that sort of thing? I have no actual idea of what your upbringing was but I'd lay pounds to dollars that it wasn't covered in bubblewrap.

This really is a minor incident in the kids life. If you watch the video to the end it didn't even have the intended effect as the little oik is still running about on the far side of the crowd.

Now if the tuba player had started kicking him when he was down, that would have been a different story...

My father's advice when I bought my motorcycle;

if you're going to go down, try to get under it, because hey, skin grows back... paint is expensive.

hheheee.
