Willard Scott from The Today Show also portrayed Bozo the Clown and also Ronald McDonald.

Not actually the original BOZO.. but most likely the most popular.
Pinto Colvig, who also provided the voice for Walt Disney's Goofy, was the first Bozo the Clown, a character created by writer-producer Alan W. Livingston for a series of children's records in 1946.
I grew up in the Detroit area where the franchised character was played by Art Cervi.

His ashes should be put into ping-pong balls. At the funeral, mourners can stand at the edge of the grave and throw the ping-pong balls into a series of buckets inside the already lowered coffin, to try to win memorabilia from his life.
Ok, maybe not, but, if I were Bozo, that's how I'd want my funeral to be.

I can't personally verify this story, I do remember it being talked about in school.
The Detroit Bozo Show was broadcast live up till the late 60's early 70's. During one broadcast, a shot of the audience showed a kid flipping off the camera. Bozo approached him and said "that's a Bozo no-no".. to which the child replied.. "climb it clownie". I'd love to have a video of that one!

RIP...even though I'm terrfied of clowns and can't click on the link to read the sad story...still sad to see an icon pass on.
BTW- just a small sidenote...if anyone dresses up like a clown for the Plimevention I will hurt you. I'm not kidding when I say I'm terrified of clowns.
