Jack Nicholson's alma matter... the Oregon State Mental Hospital is being torn down to make room for a NEW cuckoo's nest. I wonder if there will be a sequel?

To some degree it's a shame that the location of such a significant film is to be destroyed, but reading further into the article it appears to be more of a monument to the abuse and dereliction routinely heaped on the mentally ill and disabled, so in that respect it is a great leap forward that this site of ignominy be destroyed and replaced - wiping the slate clean, as it were, but with the good sense to not ignore the past, but not dwell on it either.

sounds like this place needed it. I have never seen the Jack Nicholson movie. I plan on seeing it now though. This really made me think about the treatment of the mentally ill. Thank you for sharing.
