Death of Free Internet is Imminent .. Canada will be test case
n the upcoming weeks watch for a report in Time Magazine that will attempt to smooth over the rough edges of a diabolical plot by Bell Canada and Telus, to begin charging per site fees on most Internet sites. The plan is to convert the Internet into a cable-like system, where customers sign up for specific web sites, and then pay to visit sites beyond a cutoff point. picked by siennablue 3 months ago

Poorly written with no evidence to back any of his ridiculous claims, this is just fear-mongering and nothing more.

I would downvote it but I don't want to be the one to delete it..

Where are the facts in this article? This is fear mongering, pure and simple. The author completely neglects the fact that fee-based internet, like the cable tv model he references, would have to pay the web sites a fee, much as your local company pays a fee to HBO. The cable company that doesn't want to pay for Plime would not carry it, but you can sure bet a competitor would. Add in the overhead associated with signing revenue contracts with MILLIONS of web sites (as opposed to hundreds of cable channels) and this just doesn't make sense on ANY level.
