this is just another example of how stale hollywood has become. i hate anime but really like cowboy bebop. it had such a cool mix of jazz, old west, and noir. all hollywood seems to do these days is take things that shouldn't be re-made and re-make them. "The Day The Earth Stood Still" now this? Take a look at major movies that have been made in the last ten years: they are either comic book renditions or remakes of movies that have already been done (usually better as they were). i dunno, i'm a film major so this just kinda makes me numb.

They only want to spend money on things that will make money, and things like movies, books, and comics already have made money and have name recognition, therefore, the risk is slightly smaller than with a totally unknown.
