The Muppets are Coming Back Posted: 4 months ago by muppetmaker
After 27 years, the Muppet show has a glimmer of potential to return to the small screen. With hopes that the new movie takes off, the Muppet show may return.

I loved The Muppet Show. I own all the DVD's.
However...this scares me. I have horrible, horrible visions of Miss Piggy giving fashion advice to Britney Spears or Kermit swapping witty repartee with 50 cent (or fiddy cent, or whatever the heck he's called). Beeker going on Tila Tequila.
Nightmarish!

I'm all for a new show with Muppets. But another "Muppet Show"? No thanks.
It just really bugs me that no one has been able to do Kermit's voice right since Jim Henson died. :(

That and the fact that Disney owns the Muppets now... did you see the celuloid abortion they called the Muppets Wizard of Oz?

« pocksucket : How come Muppets Tonight doesn't count? Good point, but it really wasnt the Muppet Show. Muppets tonight was a bit more realistic, scary, and creepy, trying to keep with the 90s. They did a lot of stuff different with it, and our favorite characters weren't featured as much as we wanted. Though the rasta muppet is pretty bad ass.
Muppet's Tonight was an attempt to make the Muppets cool, instead or relying on nostalgia and fun niffty writing.

Muppet's Tonight was an attempt to make the Muppets cool, instead or relying on nostalgia and fun niffty writing. It always seemed like the natural progression to me - the format was almost identical.
And it gave us this:
Which had me laughing for weeks after I first saw it - especially with all the build up of what to do with the big suit that was part of the build up.

Nightmarish! But wouldn't it be great to see Ellen on the Muppet Show? Or Tom Hanks? Or *gasp* McCain/Obama? (Perhaps that should be our litmus test of presidents — how they deal with talking to puppets).

I love the muppets. And I loved The Muppet Show! If they can duplicate that format I am all for it. Right now they are on Disney with DC Almost Live. Not quite the same, but mildly amusing. Shoots more toward the tweeny set. I want them to do what they did ALLLLL those years ago. It was muppets doing comedy that adults could appreciate with guest stars that the GROWN UPS knew and liked. Well some of them I liked too. Anyway...I will at least be willing to watch one to see what they come up with.
Edit: Animal rocks!
