The worlds most important six second drum loop Posted: 4 months ago by dOntEAtpOOp
The history of the "Amen Break," a six-second drum sample from the b-side of a chart-topping single from 1969. This sample was used extensively in early hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis for drum-and-bass and jungle music -- a six-second clip that spawned several entire subcultures.

Yawn
This so called "break" is a joke in the history of music. Ask Musicians. IT is kind of like when people who are talking... say "UM".
Big Deal.
My opinion is ... I don't care how boring the speaker is, the "Amen Break" is insignificant.
this is real music

Ah, I see... Judging what is and is not music now, are we? Interesting, especially given your example of real music.

Very nice! I've heard music based off that break for years and years, and I always assumed it was imitative style, rather than actual use of a specific sample.

Yawn indeed: OK, we got it. It's a Rick roll. It's kind of your signature. Yeah, that's funny. Once. At most.
By the way, there's a reason why embedding of Rick Astley videos is disabled by Youtube.
Welcome to Plime.

Somewhere Keith Moon's soul is writhing. There was a time adrenaline and perspiration combined with god given talent into sheer magic. Listen to Quadrophenia, all of it. (No, really, listen to it!)

I read the title and thought to myself, "I bet it's Amen Break". And then I was expecting it to have been posted by Dr Strangelove, and was a bit surprised and impressed that DEP posted it.
I just got an idea: When I start homeschooling my kids, I should include the history of electronic music as part of the curriculum. :)
