I have a complaint though, this site makes me feel old. Not just Old.. but OOOOOOLD. Kinda like our parents were when we were in the 80s. Whoa.. that's like almost 3 DECADES ago.

I need a walker, some depends, and a hearing aid now.

Let's have a contest: I DARE you to find something worse there than Eddie Murphy's 'Party all the time'.

Edit: I stand corrected. Mr. T's worse.

I love that song,
The song recaps major events from the time Billy was born to the beginning of '89, so I should write my own version since I was born in '89, so it would be like a continuation. :P

Um, how 'bout the Don Johnson song???

I have to admit, I love, love, love 80's music. Def Lep and Loverboy were my fave's, along with a ton of others. They just don't do music like that anymore. :(

What is all this talk about 80's music like it was 20 years(or more) ago??? We just finished that decade right? Like barely!

I wouldn't give the music such a bad review, I would however, give the hair, make up and clothes a very bad review! See Joan Cusack in Working Girl and you will see what I mean. We thought we looked so hot!

Edit: Just wanted to say, back when MTV really was MTV! I want my MTV!

Yes its not been that long ago but they really don't make music like they used to in the 80's just a good way to remind us of what music should still be like.

YES YES YES bring back the music videos and get rid of the "Real world" and so you think you can's and I'm better than all of you type of shows.

Yeah - you tell kids today that once upon a time they used to play music videos on MTV and they look at you like you've just tried to tell them that Santa Claus is real.

NO NO NO, you're wrong. You're just so wrong. The 80's was like a bad s**t staing that can't seem to be shouted out of Music's favorite pair of underwear.

Good music stopped at the 80's, came back for a little bit in the 90's, and makes a few appearances here and there today. I still don't think Music has recovered from the 80's.

I will say, however; that I like a few bands that resided in the 80's. ZZ TOP, Dire Straights, The Cars, Men Without Hats, Blondie, and Bad Religion. That's it though.

Sorry, I like you coffeeshop, I just hate the 80's.

You old!? Hell, I was already old in the 80s. In my 30s. For me, it's late 60s-early 70s for the music I grew up with...

Well, I used to hate the 80’s as well, until I realized they were the best years of my life.

I think that people here aren't really saying the 80's had such great music, but rather that these songs really give us a weird feeling of nostalgia that reminds us we were happier back then.

We weren't jaded whenever a new piece of technology came out, or even complained when movies had horrible special effects, or that celebrities had physical faults. Heck, we didn’t really care who was wearing underpants or not in those days!

Things were more natural, less fantastic and we still found them awesome anyway.
One thing I'm sure everyone agrees with is that in the 80's, though we believed it was all fake (the hairdos, the horrible clothes and the makeup and hairspray by the buckets), it was in fact much simpler and authentic than it is today.

No one got airbrushed so often they looked like they were made of plastic, or starved themselves to death, or even relied solely on their looks to get a hit record. A lot of 'not so pretty' people were getting their work across and they're still remembered today.

It was the beginning of the future, if you will (because we are now living in the future, everything that was imagined in terms of technological advances began to come true in the 80’s after the invention of the microchip), and in the beginning, everything is so awesomely exciting!

Now, we just don’t know how to have fun anymore – everything is fake, void and none of it will remain for long in our collective memory (thank God for that). This is in fact the age we will wish we could shove inside a tub full of bleach so it can be erased forever.

I agree with you on every single point. The only good thing to come out of the '80s was the '90s. I can hardly watch or listen to anything from that decade without feeling like I need a shower. Even The Goonies and other halfway decent movies bring back this musty attic scent that repulses me to no end.
