Driving backwards away from a tornado. I wish I could say something like, "those idiots", but I live in Kansas and I grew up knowing that tornados are pretty much just good for adrenaline and for freaking out the out-of-state people.

I'm definitely an out-of-stater, I'd be substantially freaked out if I was in that vehicle!

Hehe, we'd get so much fun out of you if you were here. Although, as much as I love tornados and get such a rush from them, you can bet if I were ever in an earthquake I'd be crying like a baby. I'm not so sure about hurricanes though. I've always wanted to be in one. Not a really serious one, but one where it at least throws stuff around and makes the national news. That'd be fun.

It's all about what you're used to. Just the other week we were making fun of the Ontarians for closing down TO because it was a 'balmy' -15C.
I also get good laugh at the idiots who freak out about bears and cougers and wolverines. To bears, bear bells = dinner bells!

As for an earthquake - well I'm a geologist, so being in a big earthquake is on my to-do list for life. I always thought a sandstorm would be so rowdy to be in. Hurricanes? Well, I was booorn in a crossfire hurricane....

Waaahhh!!!!! Your life scares me!!! I'm horrified of bears!!! We have some of those cougars here, but not legally. People see them all the time and we hear them and there's been photos of them and there's even one that's living on campus ("the hill") but the government won't admit that they're here (for some fiancial reason or something). Anyway, I'm scared of them too.

As for sandstorms, I don't think I'd be afraid of one, probably just mostly annoyed. Sand annoys the hell out of me when it's just sitting there. I can't imagine how irritated I would be if it were blowing all over the place and smacking me around.

The video won't load here at work. I'm sure it was a doozie! I have lived in a part of Illinois known as 'Tornado Alley' for aboot a decade and a half, and I still haven't seen a damn 'nader in person. Oh well, maybe this will be my lucky year.

Tornadoes = scary! Hurricanes = Great Party!! Since there is always a few days' warning, you can really plan a big bash and it's also great surf the day before landfall. More good fun to see how many times you can get behind Jim Cantore and appear on the weather channel...
That said,
Hurricane + trailer = bad news
Hurricane + oceanfront property = reallly bad news

I'll bet you've neve seen an F-5. I saw the one that hit Gerald Texas from I-35. Tossed a semi-truck into the air.The column was more than three miles wide. I was about six miles away and it sounded like hell had opened up. People were Shredded alive. Shredded alive. I don't think there is anything 'good' about that incident, and regardless of what state you were from it would have freaked you out. Dirt-devils on the other hand are kind of fun. :)

Not many people have seen an F5. They are thankfully rare. Here in TN, the only recorded F5 was overshadowed by the tornadoes that hit downtown Nashville.

Edit: Now that I have watched the compilation link that Browntrout posted, the first one in the clip is the one I referenced. It is called the Forgotten F5.
