A co-worker's parrot died today. It was so sad. She had him 25 years, since she was 17. She was inconsolable. She came to work and then the vet called (she had taken him in the night before). :( They ended up sending her home.
Jakeboy had to be rehomed, unfortunately. This is one of the last pictures I took of him.
As he grew out of puppyhood, the herding instinct really took over, and he was getting nippy with our toddler. We got to a point where they could not be in a room together if our daughter was going to be walking or running around. Jake was being crated too much, and our daughter got nipped by him twice even with all the precautions we took. We really tried to manage it with crate rotation, training, and teaching our daughter (as much as you can teach a 2-year-old) how to interact with him, but it wasn't safe anymore.
So, long story short, Jake was placed with the help of New England Border Collie Rescue. They were amazing, and Jake's foster mom kept in touch with us while he was in foster care. He has been adopted into a working home, by a professional dog trainer, who is working him both with sheep and on an agility course.
We are, once again, a one dog family. Here's the big guy:

Polly is in love with her yellow stuffed (not so much anymore) dog bone toy. Crosby's previous owner gave us a whole box of dog toy's, and this is the one that she picked.
