So it's Apple's latest product that looks great, but I'd like to know if Plime users are rushing out to buy them. First, though...

Good things
+Looks great
+It's an iPod...
+...with phone capabilities
+Web browser
+Third-party apps

Bad things
-Lack of 3G
-Can't remove battery
-Little space
-A price tag that could also apply to a small island
-A keyboard
-The screen will get dirty to easily

So, plimers, do you want an iPhone?

Work supplied me with a new NOKIA. It is a phone that thinks it is contains an iPOD.

You can store music and play it back in umpteen modes, you can upgrade the memory with a micro-SD, it has a set of stereo earbuds rather than a regular headset, etc. It even has an FM radio (but you have to plug in the headset, and that cuts off the bluetooth).

I hate it.
- The earbud thingy is poorly designed and a monstrosity to use if just need to be hands-free on a call.
- Since it is a NOKIA, you have to buy the earpeices with their special end
- And they changed the size of it so you can't use the plentiful after-market adapters.
- They also changed the size of the power plug jack, so you have to buy all new power cords. And the new one is sooooo small that it is fragile (1 month and I already had to replace it because the phone fell off the desk and BENT the jack.
- on and on and on .....

To the question:
No, I don't want an iPhone. All-in-one packages are going to be the death of us all.

What happens when something goes wrong with the phone? You replace the whole thing, effectively buying a new phone and a new iPOD, and a new PDA, and a new camera, all the songs I paid to download (again), all the ringtones, graphics, and toys (again) .....

What happens when something happens to the iPOD? You replace the whole thing, effectively buying a new phone and a new iPOD, and a new PDA, and a new camera, all the songs I paid to download (again), all the ringtones, graphics, and toys (again) .....

What happens when the camera lens get banged and breaks? You replace the whole thing, effectively buying a new phone and a new iPOD, and a new PDA, and a new camera, all the songs I paid to download (again), all the ringtones, graphics, and toys (again) .....

What happens when... (everybody sing along: You replace the whole thing, effectively buying a new phone and a new iPOD, and a new PDA, and a new camera, all the songs I paid to download (again), all the ringtones, graphics, and toys (again) .....)

Nope!

There are always problems with new technology. The I-Phone will be no exception. I can't see paying $600+ for something that almost certainly has some bugs to be worked out. Give it some time and the price will come down and the device will improve.

Even then... I don't like the fact that they are marketing it exclusively through AT&T. I like my current service and am not inclined to change providers just so I can play with an over-priced uni-gadget.

Exactly what I've been saying for a while. The iPhone is a very obvious example of this.

I don't even have a regular cell phone. There's no one I need to call that badly.

I got to play with one, and I gotta say, they're really cool. I won't be paying $600 for one though; and besides, in about a month it'll have double the memory and a better camera, etc.

It is hard enough to get outside and break away from technology, why would I want to bring it with me? I barely tolerate a cellphone.
