We took Maddie to play on the swings today
She had fun, then we went and flew kites. I wish I had parents like me when I was a kid, my mum was crap.

Maddie looks a lot like Claire! (Especially in that third picture!)
And, in case it makes any bit of a difference: You grew up with crappy parents, and that taught you to never ever be a crappy parent. Maddie's going to have a good life and has great parents. You have the opportunity to give her all the love, care, and fun that you missed out on and you know the value of non-crappiness.
My dad's father was absolutely horrible. My dad is wonderful.

My dad's father was absolutely horrible. My dad is wonderful. There's a lot of truth in what you say. I think I am finally getting to do all the things I wanted to when I was a kid but from the other side sort of thing. Either way we are having so much fun and wouldn't have it any other way.
