DUPE's that aren't getting the downvotes they deserve
I believe in giving credit, where credit is due. These people are getting credit when it is due elsewhere. Just thought the plime community should be notified. I mean, hell, I get downvoted for dupe's. It happens! :)
I don't like downvoting when it means it goes seriously to the negative. One -14 vote for a new member can hurt. And there are a lot of members with higher karma than mine that probably feel the same way. If a newbie gets hammered for each duplicate, they're unlikely to hang around.
This is true. However, if you previously upvoted the post and it is actually a dupe, then don't you think you yourself were duped into upvoting? I mean, the original post deserves your up vote more. All plimates, new or old, have to learn sooner or later, that duping, all though might be a mistake, still gets a downvote. I'm not trying to get people to more than a -20, just enough to get the post off of the 'all links' board. And to make sure that the original post get's it's due! That's all.
Plime is an editable wiki community where users can add and edit weird and interesting links. Users earn karma when other users vote on their actions. The more karma you have, the more power you have at Plime.
Cheesewiener, with this thread I beleive I have done my part in down-voting.
If you want to give a speech about, making sure you downvote when necessary, by all means do. But don't point fingers around, especially when the links are so old.
And you will remember, if you read the FAQ's, that a dupe is a link that has been posted in the last 30 days.
Like I said before, I didn't pay attention to the post dates and for that I appologise. However, one of mmy pet peeves is people not getting the credit they deserve and someone else picking up the rewards. I guess I am just having a crappy day and I decided to take it out on some dupers. Again, I am sorry for posting the links to the older posts. I will pay much more attention to the details. I have learned from this experience so hopefully we can all move past this and have Heineken. Cheers!

Everyone on Plime is allowed one public misdoing, embarrassment, or general glitch in their person. It is those who go back and admit their glitch that become Plimates. I've had mine. This is yours.
Not all dupes are equal. Also "Dupe" is not a well defined concept. If a Dupe is upvoted, it must be really good stuff. Dont get encouraged to repost your downvoted stuff. Obviously there are things taht shouldnt have died off, for example the following NSFW post:
I usually don't downvote dupes unless they are within a short period of time. There are loads of dupes that go unnoticed because they are from so long ago. I dont think that I have the right to downvote somebody for forgetting something from eight months ago when I can't remember what I ate for breakfast. s**t, did I even eat breakfast? I can't remember. Oh well, guess I'll just have a Heineken to sustain me. As you suggested.
