Animal Cruelty and Eye Gouging

In the anonymous confession thread, there has been argument over the punishment for those who kill animals (I realise pedophellia is a MUCH worse crime, but more people will admit to killing animals than rape kids).
A poster admitted to killing a neigbors Chihuahua with a poisoned hotdog.
"i killed a neighbors chihuahua with a antifreeze-spiked wiener bc it attacked me everytime i stepped out of my front door.. teh owner thought it was funny and refused to control the little mop so i offed it."
They also have never heard of the Shift button.
Another admitted to killing their neighbors cats. An eyegouging threat was made (but wasn't serious).
Interesting arguments about whether an "eye for an eye" justice approach is appropriate. (Well, more like an eye for a cat)

I think anyone who kills an animal, or tortures one deserves the pain they inflicted upon the pet owner. If someone killed my dog, I couldn't help myself but to think horrible thoughts, but probably no more actions than alerting the persons family of what they have done.
Has anyone killed a pet of yours? If someone did, what would you do? Have you ever killed an animal(not hunting related, thats a separate story.)?

Yes, our family dog (a small yorkie) was killed by my brother inlaw and sisters pitbulls. We had the yorkie for 10 years he was my buddy. The pitbulls in question had been trained to kill just about anything, BUT a twelve gauge slug each took care of them.

I would only kill someones pet if I felt it was a threat to my family or property and only after I had warned the owner (once).

I used to live on a busy highway/street (the highway turned into the street) and nobody liked to slow down (55mph - 35mph zone). One day I was ootside and some jackass actually swerved and hit my little puddy. So I took it upon myself to chase them down into town. I got them to pull over (by the cop shop, no less) and I inquired why they felt it necessary to hit my cat? They laughed and said 'kiss my ass.' So I reached into the driver's side window and grabbed the guy by the collar and shook the bajesus oot of him while asking him if he would like it if I ran him over. The sheriff noticed the commotion and came over. He inquired aboot the situation. I told him everything and the prick (driver) had the oddacity to tell the sheriff, 'yes, so what? It is just a f*ckin' cat.' The sheriff asked me to fill oot a report and the driver recieved 2 tickets. One for speeding and another for reckless driving. I was happy he got the tickets, but was still wanting to run him over.

Some people's kids... heh!

I believe that back in NJ someone killed some of my cats, it's a major factor in my having moved and moved to a place where I have no neighbors.

I've lost a few cats to cars and I feel awful about it but I don't think anyone did it deliberately. If I found out differently I'd not be able to control myself.

A man hunts at the back edge of my property. I saw the hunting shack up there when I walked the property line but wasn't sure if it was on my property or not. When hunting season opened he came to me and asked if he could hunt. I abhor hunting so this was a real dilemma for me. The man had respect to come and ask me and admit the shack was on my property. He was an older gentleman and didn't appear to be a "hot dog". I told him my feelings about hunting and how I wanted deer on my property. I then said "I have cats and if one of them ends up shot..." I let my words trail off but I looked him in the eye and he nodded. I agreed to let him hunt there. I still am conflicted but I'm not kidding about what I'd do if I found one of my cats was killed by a hunter.

He's hunted a few times but I've only heard 1 shot and never saw him come back down with a deer (though, I don't watch him, because I don't really want to see that). He's the one that told me there's a bear up there. He also told me my cats do go up that far into the woods. So now I don't feel too bad because he is looking out for me and my animals.

I saw a video of a guy beating a dog to death with a club. He claimed the dog attacked him but the video shows him dragging the dog into a laundromat and beating the dog.

You cannot take a "humans are superior" stance when that is how you will treat another living thing. Explain how we're superior.

If someone killed one of my animals I would like to beat there head in with a baseball bat... but realistically I am not a violent person, so I would probly just get one good punch then walk away.

Has anyone killed a pet of yours?
In a roundabout way, I guess. Remember that huge pet food recall earlier this year? My cat died after eating a Menu food product. I probably should have put just as much effort into her food as I do into my dog's food (he is on a purely raw diet- no dog food whatsoever), but I guess I felt I didn't need to. The dog is on raw because we had too many problems with dog food, but the cat was doing well on what she was eating.
What did I do? I filed a report with the company, told them I did NOT want to sue, I just wanted reimbursement for vet costs, and I have not heard back from them since (this all happened in February/early March). I've called a bunch of times to see what the hell is going on, and they say that they have been placed under a gag order and can't talk to customers directly- only their lawyers. Of course, since I don't want to sue, I don't have a lawyer. So it appears I'm being screwed.

But I'm sure that's not what you meant... I'm just a little bitter. It has certainly reinforced my decision to only feed Levi (the dog...) raw.

I have no idea what I'd do if someone deliberately killed my dog. He's such a good dog, it pisses me off just to think of someone doing that!

I had a cat that was hit by a car. I used to live on the corner between a sidestreet and a busy road. I don't think it was intentional because the person seemed to have moved the cat to the side of the road to prevent a huge mess. Considerate? I guess. If they knew it was our cat though, they should have the nads to tell us that they had done it.

I went to high school with a kid that was convicted of animal cruelty after repeatedly abusing and eventually killing one of his girlfriend's mom's dogs.

He fed one of them bleach (this one didn't die), but the dog is blind and needs a very special diet. He bludgeoned the other one with a rock and left it in the hall clost to die.

Scares the hell out me that I actually knew the guy and I never suspected he was crazy.

You may not need to hire an attorney. Do an internet search for class action lawsuits involving them (check findlaw.com, if you need help let me know).

Thanks, Punthe. Her name was Fig (Figaro, actually...) I only had her a few months- she was living in the barn of my house when we moved in. I found out from neighbors that she belonged to the previous owners and she just refused to leave the barn. Neighbors had tried to adopt her and she would always run away and return to this house. So we inherited her when we started renting this place, and she pretty much won everyone over. Even the dog liked her!

It's sad when someone lacks basic self control and compassion and is cruel or violent toward an animal.

It's even sadder when someone lacks basic self control and compassion and is cruel or violent toward another person in a misguided attempt to avenge animal cruelty, as if more violence will somehow solve the problem.

Says the guy with the bloody bunny-suit avatar. Seriously, I said it in the other thread and I'll say it here, I WOULDN'T ACTUALLY PAY SOMEONE TO GOUGE THAT f**kER'S EYES OUT. Get the hell over it, people.

I do, however, wish desperately that this person suffers some loss of a loved one in their lives that makes them despair and regret that they ever INTENTIONALLY caused that kind of suffering on someone else because they were too scared to confront an owner about their pet's behavior.

EDIT: Hey, look! My first downvote, ever. Huh.

RG. There's no way to spin it. Wishing harm on someone or someone's loved one is just not right. No matter what harm they've done.

Perhaps you haven't seen a loved one lying in a hospital bed, in ICU, on a respirator. Perhaps you haven't experienced a loss of someone close to you.

I don't know.

But those experiences change perspective and I wouldn't wish that on anyone, even if they maliciously harmed my pet.

There are rational and constructive methods to approach a malicious killing of a pet, and those methods do not involve reciprocal violence.
