Let's post any questions we have in this thread... that way jax can figure out which elements are causing confusion and figure out a way to address/explain them.

You know, questions that go like...

"How do I do _______?"
"What's this for?"
"Why is ______ here"
"Who stole my pants?"

Well, maybe not that last one... but I'll start:

----

Why is there a miniature plime icon next to jax's name in my friends list? (I saw it next to mgalpert's name a few minutes ago)

Why is there a "source" field on the article form? I can change it but it doesn't do anything. On the news pages, the "via _______" seems to be pulled automatically from the url.

No, it will override the "via _________" if source is entered. Or it should anyway.

That indicates the user is currently online. Once instant messaging is working correctly, that will be useful.

It does it on the main page but doesn't seem to be doing it on (the apple movie download article)

Ah, at first I thought that meant the user had a special status. maybe there should be a little key explaining that [plimeicon]=online.

OK, found and fixed that bug.

I was thinking of having a greyed out id if someone is offline, and a dark one if they are online...

About Plime
Plime is an editable wiki community where users can add and edit weird and interesting links. Users earn karma when other users vote on their actions. The more karma you have, the more power you have at Plime.

Hey Jax, something you might consider for this (as seen in other chat type programs):
Have an online and offline section, and have the names move from one to the other as the status changes. <-- 2 cents.

for technological reasons, I can't set it up that way unfortunately (well I could, but it would slow down the site).

Then definitely don't do that. The plime logo was cool, and the dark and greyed out would work too. I think the logo is a little better if I was forced to choose.

I think you're confused. There is an ongoing Plime contest at Worth1000, not the other way around.

One question:
are we limited to the categorys indicated in the add a link section? If so will there be others in the future?

It ended up as 2 questions!

Thank you and good work!

Yes to the first question

To the second question:
I believe that you cannot add top level categories, I see no-where to do that (Unless a top level category is a sub-category of the plime.com category)

Sub-categories can be added once you hit level 20 (Which could well be too high IMO)

I have a question.

What's the purpose of rating ourselves in the profile page? I see a lot of us doing it, but does it add to the average or the level?

I have a question.

Why do you only have the Yankees and Red Sox as the only baseball teams? I hate the American League. Go Mets!

For real though, I noticed one of my interests is the main plime.com page. I'm not sure if I inadvertently added it to my interests or not when I first started clicking around here, so if I deleted it from my interests, would it have an affect on my main page or something?

That's definitely on my list of things to remove :)

I found my link so my previous question is moot, but for curiousity's sake, how long should it take a submitted link to show up?

it should be immediately to the section it's submitted to. Five minutes to any parent sections (and the homepage's) all picks page.
