Personally I like Avenged Sevenfold
Its a cool name for a metal band even though their singer and drummer are dissapointing on stage.

Some of the worst i've seen are
Panic! At the disco (cant argue with that one )
A voice; Cinematic (Another one with punctuation)

Best band name ever: Spearing Britney (But their frontman, Steve, has recently left the band....I'm not too hot on Dena - the former backup singer now lead singer)

Pig Vomit.

Not sure if that would be best or worst. I guess it can go either way.

Led Zeppelin, imo it just seems like a rip-off of Iron Butterfly.
Maybe not the worst, but still!

It's taken from something John Entwistle of the Who used to describe bad gigs. As an extrapolation of the phrase "well that went down like a lead balloon", spectacularly poorly received performances were described as going down like a lead zeppelin.

The a was dropped from Led to prevent the mispronunciation of the name that would imply that, in a zeppelin race, this is the one that was in the lead.

Hootie and the Blowfish - that one sucks.

Butthole Surfers, on the other hand, is a name that makes me laugh. As does their album titled Hairway to Stephen.

And Kathleen Turner Overdrive is actual genius so doesn't really belong in this thread at all.

I was in a band called 5-PO. It originally was 3-PO until my brother and I joined. I played egg-shaker.

Edit: to clarify, 3-PO comes from C3-PO (from Star Wars). Yeah, we were nerds.

My band name on Guitar Hero is Mourning Would. It works on several levels.

Band names like Limozeen, Lazor, Bigg Nife, Taranchula are always good.

And who can forget the artistic flair and wit of Anthrax? Seems their popularity declined a bit after 2001.

Interesting indy-rock band with a great name: fuck. - I've always wondered why they never got any airplay.

So much that sometimes I'd list it as a favorite band in various profiles and it'd be censored lol
And even though I'm not really a fan, the concept that Marilyn Manson uses for the band names is pretty cool model name serial killer last name.

I love the name Skinny Puppy, Smashing Pumpkins, Nine inch nails & ofcourse WHITE ZOMBIE!

Though I love the music, I don't understand the name Pearl Jam, and I HATE bands that have the person's name as the band name such as Dave Matthews Band (though I loves me some DMB.) Garbage sorta puts you off from listening to them doesn't it?

Back in high school when I wanted to make a band I wanted the name to be Royal Mutilation, later on I wanted it to be Oral Cavity.

Appropriately enough, the drummer died at a young age.

I once toured with a band called Foolish Hit.

I think one of the worst is Mortus, google it and check out his site. as for bad band nakes just look in the punk circle, they are the best of the worst.

Worst name, Crimson Rising. A local band. Makes me think of menses.

You know... I've heard this explanation before, and I don't buy it. I've also heard that Eddie's grandmother Pearl made homemade jam. You want to know what I think? (Was that a yes? I thought so.)
