My half-sister [who is 18 years older than me] married a guy with two kids when I was seven. His daughter was 6 and his son was 3. We all pretty much grew up together. My sis left their dad when I was 18 [for good reasons, he's a d**k, but then my sis can be a big frigging pain too], but I've remained extremely close to both of them, to the extent that in Erin's wedding [when that pic was taken] I was listed as sister of the bride.

I generally just refer to Erin as my sister and Daniel as my brother because people in my area are slow of wit and if I try to explain, their eyes will glaze over and they'll start thinking about Jerry Springer.
