Skandar, once or twice was funny, but now it's just really annoying. Would you kindly put the LolCat stuff in the LolCat thread only, please?

Oh! Hi there, Mr. and Mrs. Cold.
I haven't seen you in a while.
Just stopping by?
No?
You're taking up temporary residence in my body?
F**k you!

Why. The Fuck. Can't. People. Make. Reliable. Schedules.

Delays are expected, I wouldn't complain about that, but when I get up at 2:30 AM for you, despite having a really tight schedule myself, only to find out on location that you most probably confused Wednesday with Thursday again, and therefore the entire thing is cancelled, I'm getting slightly mad.

I just saw the saddest thing.

I was going to take some cat food to the adult kitties I saw the other day. It was raining.

As I pulled up where I saw the cats last time, I saw a white thing on the grass.

It was one of the kittens, dead, soaking wet. I don't know what killed it, but it made me so sad. I saw it just three days ago, and it was this happy little ball of energy hanging out with its mommy. Now it was hard to tell it had ever been alive.

I'm so sorry, kitty.

This past August we took in 2 newborn kittens that were abandoned by their barn-cat mom..I had snapped pics of them at the time, but hadn't been able to look at them again til tonight. It still breaks my heart that both of them died, they were just so fragile. That you posted this tonight struck such a chord with me, I'm very sorry too, lynxears.

Oh thank god, it appears it wasn't a cold after all.
Still curious why I felt like I did last night, but at least I'm not sick!

Oh man.

One of the projects I'm working on is a paper on pro-Ana internet culture. I've been reading through the responses and journals of some of the individuals who have been willing to participate. I promised confidentiality, so don't ask me to share any info about them with you. It hit me - hard - that it's more than likely that most of the people I'm conversing with or reading will die within the next few years.

Will die.

I had to stop working on it for a while. I'm supposed to remain objective, considerate, and honest, but I can't verbally shake someone, can't say "you need help!", and still fulfill the anthropology requirements.

I didn't actually think it would be this difficult. There are some specific things I read that just kicked me right in the heart. I can't share them with you.

f**k man. f**k.

In similar news, I watched Jesus Camp finally. And yeah, I cried. I've also decided that the core Evangelicals don't know how to say "I'm wrong."

We used to have a barn cat my kids named "crack mom".

Our other barn cat was very motherly and would lick crack mom while she was in labor and contantly try to move her kittens to her litter.

Crack mom would have her kittens in the horse pasture, in the yard, and just walk away. We would know she had them as she was suddenly skinnier and would have to go on a hunt to find the babies.

Thank God our other female usually found them.

Crack mom usually got mad and tried to steal her babies back once she saw the other mother was trying to take care of them. She would take them away and drop them somewhere else. Our good mother, the St Teresa of cats would always go get them and take them back to hers. Poor girl was probably exhausted!

You've got more guts and patience than I.

That must be tough. I wound up perusing through some pro-ana sites a few months ago, and I was am shocked that people will call this disease a "lifestyle choice."

Even in light of recovered anorexics condemning the disease, I can't believe girls still think it's good. The idea of "thinspiration" scares the crap out of me.

« Antt : Alas, no. I have clicked on it lots, and still it flashes.
My envelope is alive. But it's never been able to do anything except flash. Except not flash, which is hardly a more terrifying method of torture. Instead, it will simply flash for the forseeable future, hoping its irritating flashiness (albeit only visible until I scroll once) will either eventually unlock the epilepsy in me and cause me to die or drive me into suicidal insanity or something.
I'm not expecting it to work. Look at it; it's an envelope. Sure, it's a little irritating. Sure, it's the animate monster version of the thing I used to know and love, but I don't think it's going to achieve a lot. I reckon it'll get bored after a while, and stop flashing. Then, dear sirs, the last laugh shall be mine.

Wow... This thread really works. I feel a lot better about it now.
Just a quick update: he's still flashing.
I've grown rather fond of his alternating yellow and white. I decided to name him Gary. What do you think?

Logging in/out, deleting cookies, restarting browser, using a different computer do not fix it. Not that it needs fixing; it's not broken. And if it's not broken, then break it, so you can fix it a later date. Except in this case, when breaking it would involve either stopping the flashing or opening the letter. I think the latter would more than likely kill Gary; not something that needs to happen.
I'll never know if I actually have mail, but that's neither here nor there. I never do.

See, the "lifestyle choice" people aren't the ones I'm talking to. With all the negative reactions, with all the bans, there are very few of those forum sites still allowing members, and those people have been termed "wannarexics" by their peers who do actually have and eating disorder. Pride in the disorder, something you can do well... makes psychological sense. That doesn't make it hurt any less. Most of the people I'm talking to use these sites as a sort of support group, to discuss with people who understand what they're going through.

A) You have mail now. At least one piece. So check it.

B) Locate the drop down to the right of the word Inbox. By default, the inbox only displays messages that have come in the last 7 days. So...if you got a PM 8 days ago, it won't be visible unless you select something other than 7 days...and if it's not visible, it will never be toggled 'off'.
